I find it comical in that I normally have Thursdays off from work and figured that since I had today off instead that it would “Only be an hour or two downtime.” little did I know it was patch day and that means sh*t’s going to be stupid broke till some time next week.

If someone sucks at work, they’re usually fired and someone better is found. At least that’s how it is in ordinary jobs.

Would be fair if they changed the “scheduled maintenance” to “We f’ed up and have no idea what we are doing at this point”

I don’t mind the maintenance and understand that it is necessary. I do mind when you are unable to perform adequate estimates of time required to do something. What started as 4 hours is now up to 7 hours and could easily be extended again.
I would be much happier if the original announcement was for 8 hours (longer if needed). I would be somewhat happier if the first update was stating that it would be an additional 4 hours.
Simply adding 1 hour to the window every hour is very poor performance on managing customer expectations.

the only thing that bugs me is some of use dont have alot of free time to begin with and when plan time to unwind and grind in a game we pay good money for we expect that they can keep the schedule they set. For me at least today is a wash no grinding today since i am beyond my scheduled free time window and need to return to the real world.

I literally just got done publishing a major release at my company.
You know why it went smoothly? Because we vetted it multiple times in different branches and environments.
Outside of things like server outages, this should have been nailed down.
PLEASE PLEASE remember this is a Billion dollar company with an even bigger parent company.

This isn’t patch day. That is what makes this difficult to understand. I mean if they are doing back-end things to the servers for player housing in the future. Great, but at least tell us that is what you’re doing. If not that, then knowing if it is due to live or remix would be nice.

probably has something to do with the cenarius/perenolde/cairne connected realm group server crash yesterday. the server just randomly died while everyone was on yesterday afternoon
