I am not going to derail the thread further by going on and on about him, although you should know that as we speak he is trying to brigade the forums and get his twitter followers to flag all the posts he disagrees with. Including yours, despite the fact that none of them have violated forum rules.

True, and now one of his ‘friends’ (I’ll give you three guesses who, but you’re only going to need one) is trying to claim that because I said in previous posts that I am white, that my claim of being part of an indigenous tribe is some form of insult.
Yes, my skin colour is white. My surname is European (Welsh actually) and I have benefited from my whiteness, never claimed otherwise. Most of that comes from my mother’s side of the family. I have never claimed oppression due to my skin colour, in fact, it is because of my skin colour that I’ve fought for racial equality for all of my adult life, because the sad honest truth is that white people get listened to. If my voice can help promote change and bring racial equality, then I will use it gladly as I have for the past 20 years.
So where do my indigenous roots come from? My father and his side of the family. As it stands I have gone through the process to be accepted as part of the Ngiyampaa Tribe, and I am proud to be a part of it. My tribe is one of the oldest in my state and I will never be ashamed of that, no matter what some twitter troll says.

Is this person trying to say light skinned indigenous people don’t exist again? Displaying his lack of knowledge that race and ethnicity are two seperate concepts and that yes, people still can be racially caucasian and be ethnically indigenous.
Is this person also displaying proudly that he keeps screenshots of people talking about their race/ ethnicity to weaponize in future arguments, and ironically, he doesn’t find that creepy, invasive, or cringe.
Because then I know exactly who you are refering to.

And it’s funny, because in the post he’s made on his twitter attacking me, he cites a post I made back in March, 2020 where I said I was white and I did not mention my ethnicity. Why didn’t I do that? Because I wasn’t comfortable doing so.
For years my family have told me that I am indigenous, ever since I was 18/19 (I’m 37 now). Around the time I started filling out government forms for myself as an adult basically. They told me to ‘check the box’ saying that I was ‘Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander’, but I never did. And the reason I didn’t check that box is because I hadn’t seen any records proving that I was indigenous.
I hadn’t seen my family tree, I hadn’t seen any DNA results. All I had to go on was my physical appearance, and that wasn’t enough for me to be comfortable checking that box. I can’t speak for other countries, but in Australia there are white Australians, who after doing a DNA test, notice they’ve got just enough Aboriginal DNA in their bodies to claim that they’re indigenous and then they use that sliver of DNA to claim government benefits intended for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Those people are looked down on by a lot of Aboriginals, they’re called the ‘tick-a-box mob’, and beyond checking that box to get benefits, they do not care about Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people. They are only in it for themselves. For obvious reasons, I did not want to be a part of that mob. If I was indigenous I wanted to see the proof, I wanted to see indigenous members of my family, and not some ancient ancestor from 300 years ago or something. I needed something more immediate.
I didn’t get around to seeing that evidence until earlier this year. Once I saw it and verified it, I was extremely happy and still am. Now I’m happy to claim I am indigenous, because I am. No forum troll/gatekeeper is going to tell me otherwise or shame me for who I am. Period.
