No really, I want to know the reason behind giving horde a massive world buff that is only available to horde with alliance having nothing similar?
It’s like… almost every aspect of this game, from racials to flight paths to city and town design, horde have a clear advantage

Blizzard use to have large Horde Larping dance parties back in the day. Jamming out to Hollaback Girl.

Maybe because alliance have salv?
Honestly there isn’t a great answer. The buff is only good for melee as well.
Because Blizzard’s developers back in Classic mostly played horde. Its not a mystery, we knew that back then. Yes the racials are strong, and yes the map advantages exist in both AV and even to a smaller degree in AB, and the cities are laid out favorably, and the flight paths are a little better, and a lot of other little details.
I am gonna venture into thinking it was not so much intentional but instead that they just did not think about it all that well. MAYBE the AV situation was a measure put into place to compensate for horde continuous losses in AV, because I feel like their spirits were broken and blizzard was trying to make them competitive by providing training wheels, but overall this is just how it was, for better or worse.
What you really can enjoy playing alliance are faster ques for Battleground, and the satisfaction of knowing you often have to outplay the enemy team by a reasonable margin due to the advantages handed to horde in PVP.
As for the WC Buff, well its just an oversight potentially because there was no parsing back in Vanilla, people did boast about DPS, but realistically the warrior stacking meta was not a thing because early on warriors were considered to suck, and in some ways they did because the stats needed to make them “good” outside of world buffs was not so common also because DW fury was considered bad, and that did not help either even if it was potentially good.

That pretty subjective. Ally have it pretty good in pve with pallies, human racials, and fear ward. Also…what’s so much better about horde city and town design?
But to answer your question it’s because ally are big doodoo heads.

Back in clasic the game wasnt balanced around the idea of who had what. It was an RPG where each faction had there own novel things and quests. AS the game grew it lost those in order to make sure that there was balance across the game … except with racials for the most part.

I suspect it is because there were many teams putting things together, and not a lot of long-term thought put into “horde” versus “alliance”. There’s other things like a whole collection of horde blacksmithing armor, or a wider variety of alliance cooking recipes, where it’s clear no one was stepping up and saying “Hey, horde need 12 more cooking recipes, 7 from quests and 5 from faction vendors”.
Perhaps in the sense of wPvP invading armies, but I greatly prefer Ironforge to either Org or TB when it comes to AH to bank, profession trainers, repairs, flight master. (I hate going up towers to get to flight masters, or waiting on elevators, and that’s what Horde cities have.) I admit I think Darnassus wins the worst layout away, but IF wins best for me.

Darn is bad except it’s bank/ah/warmaster setup. You can rank PvP there and but not have to leave or travel to far. You can even make passive gold with moonclith CD enough to pay for PvP mats.

Original WoW class designer, Kevin Jordan, explains world buffs.

The buffs were not as integral part of the game back then. Nobody really thought about it. Most people turned in ony heads when it was on CD and didnt even care that they didnt get the buff.

It disturbs me that I had to go this deep into the thread to see the actual answer posted.

World buffs were never meant to be stacked and were added into the game by completely different people.
Alliance have their own advantages there is not some elaborate conspiracy for the mean green man to hold you down.

I’ll add to this and say they probably wanted to encourage people to play Horde. Maybe they didn’t think people would be willing to play a faction made up of traditional fantasy “bad guys”(trolls, orcs, undead, and minotaurs aren’t usually seen as the good guy).

It’s also worth noting that (and you can still experience this in Classic today) quest designers made no effort to calculate how much time and energy quests would consume. Quests to kill 10 easily located mobs are mixed in with quests to collect 10 items with a 15% drop rate off of a total respawn pool of 10 mobs as if they were equally difficult to do. Two examples of things unfair in favor of Alliance are the pre-specialization blacksmithing quest, which takes 30 steel bars for Alliance but a whopping 120 for Horde, and how trolls need to hike all the way back to Sen’jin Village to buy mounts. These things didn’t happen because somebody hates trolls or blacksmiths; they happened because the designers didn’t really think about them.

While I definitely don’t go out of my way or lose sleep over wcb, the 300 hp and mana regen are nice.
I agree, it’s wayyyy better for melee but I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s ‘bad’ for casters.
It’s because the devs never intended world buff raiding to be a thing. They have stated that they gave world buffs as a cool quest reward to make people feel like they were getting recognition among the players around them when they turned in big quests. So ensuring that each faction had equal buff rewards was never something they thought about.

Well, the Alliance gets Seal of Wrynn which is probably the best ring you’ll see till you raid.
we have rallying cry of the dragonslayer
Probably unfinished concept that they never finished for alliance.
Either way it’s only 30 mins, doesn’t last in raids.
Alliance get an extra faction mount in Winterspring. There are odd things like that where only one faction has access to something cool.
You realize almost every vanilla server was alliance dominated right?
