I mean Exile’s is a slog after doing it a few times too, nothing of value would be lost if they let us skip the thing if we ever completed it. Can understand if they never give the option though.
I guess I just haven’t done it enough times to consider it such. I know I’ve done the goblin starting zone enough times to consider it a slog though.
We already cap off Exile’s Reach with an Undead Dragon. Dragon’s really haven’t been that relevant for a while and if we do get Dragon Isles there will likely be lore that reestablishes / re-contextualizes them anyways.
I feel like a bit of lore/flavor that players who are new to the franchise probably need is the Titan type stuff. Going to a Titan facility and learning about Azeroth while dealing with some Old God type creature who wants to do some Old-God type stuff might get people more caught up to the general vibe of the franchise and see a different side of the lore. You’d get Undead, Demon, and Old God stuff all as part of this one campaign, which hits the trifecta.
Final boss of the whole campaign being this guy could be pretty interesting.

All of them. I’m not a fan of Exile’s Reach.
But if I had to choose one, I always loved Forsaken’s starting zone. Closely following that, Pandaren’s is good. Ironforge for Gnomes/Dwarves was good. Goblin’s is outstanding.
My least favorite are Orc and Human.
I always forget they’re a playable race
To quote the famous Kobold… “Time is Money”.
And to Blizzard, the more time you sink the more they make
And just for fun, this L27 rogue was a L70 server first and global top sword rogue with a great pvp record too… I left when pandas came… (just came back today) i had a very deep and sorrowful laugh when i looked at my character and gear stats that were meta BIS back then… i came to this thread and decided to go back to te roots… Teldrassil. It was my first home in the game and couldn’t fathom to not do a a play-through to break out of Elfcatraz If I roll another elf I’ll go to Exiles.
literally every other original starting zone is better than exile reach
I stopped doing Exile’s Reach once I got all the transmog from there. I prefer the racial starting zones.
This character was specifically leveled in Azuremyst.
It was nice, felt like a real blast from the past, as I hadn’t leveled a character there since, maybe, Cata.
Draenei starting zones are still nice and have good quest rewards compared to other Alliance races. By the time you’re done, you’ll be level 25 or so.
i like all of em over exiles reach besides worg/gob/panda starting zones, those are just too long
For vibes, Elwynn, for efficiency, Exiles Reach.
I’m a big fan of “adventure modules”, self-contained one-and-done adventures. Exile’s Reach is like the quintessential adventure module. S-tier.
Of the six vanilla starting zones, only Human is comparable for me, in large part because of the Defias plot that perfectly builds up to Deadmines and Stocks, and you get a nice pre-BIS ring for SoD BFD in phase 1. Amazing arc with a good reward at the end. I give it an A-tier though as I do feel that it does lack an sense of urgency for a large part of the run time due to the sequencing of events (you don’t learn about the Defias plot until you’ve already foiled it since you do Deadmines before Stocks).
Side-note: I wish Stockades and Deadmines had their levels reversed. Stockades is clearly supposed to take place before Deadmines since characters seem to think Edwin is still alive or his plot is in play. Oh well.
After Vanilla, the adventure module approach was firmly embraced by Blizzard and we started seeing good starting experiences that surpass the human. Draenei and Blood Elf are both good, although I think Draenei is probably better in my mind, simply because I feel that Blood Elf leveling feels like it ends of a cliffhanger that won’t be resolved and arguably still hasn’t been resolved properly.
For Worgen and Gobbo, Goblin leveling starts off so strong but falls off near the end. Worgen is peak though. Ending in the tragic fall of Gilneas, it is so good. Worgen is an easy S-tier, probably the best starting experience bar none.
Panda… it’s good, but you play as a “both sides” Panda so I dunno. Putting my Panda dislike aside the story-telling is good here.
Dracthyr… nah fam. That ain’t it. Dracthyr starting zone is likely my least favorite leveling zone they’ve done since Vanilla.

Honorable mentions to class story zones. DH is an A-tier, DK is an S-tier. DH are cooler to me as a class but let’s be real my guy the DK starting zone is peak.
