That’s still just jumping and gliding lol. Flying involves gaining height anytime they want after initial liftoff. Otherwise it’s just gliding.
Same reason “Flying Squirrels” don’t fly, just glide.

Evokers aren’t real.
You keep saying that Demon Hunter can’t fly in the “lore”, then your only evidence is real world physics.
Show me something from the lore, you keep saying they can’t fly in the lore.
You can’t.
If you are basing this purely on physics, Demon Hunters and Evokers have the same wings and silhouette.
And you have no evidence.
I’ve asked you to present it and you haven’t.
Demon Hunters cannot fly in the lore. You can disagree all you want, but that’s what has been established.
Thats essentially what evokers do and how the whole dragon riding system works. You dive down for speed and glide up for altitude. And if you say they also can launch themselves in the air, there’s precedent for that since DH can do the same (as noted with Rain from Above ability).
There is a cinematic that shows Illidan flying, and they have wings. That’s evidence in favor of flight.
There’s also the pvp talent that lets them fly for extended periods of time.
Honestly, orc warlocks should be able to fly.
If they get metamorphosis again, why not, they are essentially Demon Hunters while transformed.
Oh look, the cinematic I linked happened after yours, so the one I linked takes lore precedent.
Also just watched the one you linked again, nothing in it suggests Demon Hunters can’t fly. In fact, Illidan drops out of nowhere from the sky, suggesting he was flying, lmao. And then at the end he’s literally flapping his wings flying, not gliding.
I actually kind of dig the idea of Demon Hunters getting to use their wings as well.
Also, it’s as good a chance as any to mention that I’m still ultra salty that the Fangs of the Father didn’t give real wings to Rogues. That would be a very cool bonus to add as well, if possible somehow.
By that logic, you could say that several classes have a claim to flight.
Priests can levitate, so with enough faith they should fly.
Mages have slow fall, which is like gliding. So they should be able to fly.
Warlocks should be able to call upon demonic entities to carry them in the air.
Shaman should be able to summon the elementals to carry them in the air.
Druids… already can.
The truth is that sometimes features are only applied to the new content. I would agree with you, OP, that it is a missed opportunity.
and yet Illidan can fly
I loled so hard I spit my drink out of my nose and all over my monitor. You owe me a clean monitor.
Semper Fi!
Illidan can fly too.
Ya the person arguing against me just linked this WC3 reforged cinematic that shows Illidan drop out of the sky in an open tundra with nothing to glide down from, then at the end of the cinematic Illidan is flapping his wings flying.
Evokers don’t really fly it’s like a partial glide flying.
Legit flying in game means you can flying with no time constraint or cool down. Soar is fun but after a certain point you can’t maintain “flight” and you must land.
Oops I meant to put in so people don’t get triggered. Don’t want a DH using that eye beam on my evokers face or something.
Normal flying is real flying. You fly across the continent if you wanted in one flight session / never touching ground.
Also I’m not fond of demon hunters so I don’t care about them, they could be deleted from the game and I probably not noticed until another player told me.
Black Temple he flies too.
“Illidan takes flight and throws the Warglaives of Azzinoth to the ground, each of which unleashes a Flame.”
Illidan Stormrage - NPC - World of Warcraft (wowhead.com)
Any player can just go do the raid and see that.
Ah, but the dracthyr have a much more aerodynamic shape
Thing is, we’re not Illidan, we’re lesser Demon Hunters so we don’t get the same benefits like Illidan who has permanent Metamorphosis.
