Evoker gets the DH treatment (Battle Visage)

Continuing the discussion from 12.0.5 PTR Development Notes:

Now you no longer need to bug out your character to play in visage form

Just a few hours after I made a thread about it! You’re welcome everyone!

Seriously though, I really hope they use the Blight animations from Warlock in our Visage form, and don’t force us to go back into Dracthyr every 10 seconds. That would be way too jarring.

I fully expect (and hope) this only applied to Deep Breath/Dream Flight, where it actually requires us to have wings and stuff.

So excited for this change! I finally gave the ā€œTime Stopā€ glitch a try to play in visage form and (perhaps not) surprisingly found that I was enjoying myself a lot more playing my Evoker because I was able to play it in the transmog I had created for my visage (battle mage with a big 2H dragon sword).

I kind of suspected they were working on something like this because they introduced new combat animations for the visage form that emulate how the Dracthyr form would act in combat. It’ll be nice to finally utilize them in an official capacity!

So the people that want to play as Elves yet picked a Dragon get what they want, and those of us who are perfectly fine with Dragons don’t get transmogs like we want.

I JUST WANT TO WEAR HATS. IT DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY WORK.

I’m wondering if they’ll make more bespoke animations for devastation’s visage because all of devastation’s spells aside from living flame cause you to transform.

I know they did make the azure strike animation in the beta, at least.

This please. I just want hats and shoulders and belts and I’m good. And the return of spirit bloom.

Well congrats to the visage crowd I suppose but for those of us that like being a Dragons. Can we get tmogs or more customization options? I hope this didn’t just eliminate our chances of these things. God it’s odd that I even feel like I’ll be looking back at this same message 5 yrs from now and still not have a tmog option and maybe like 2 new horns and colors. What a weird feeling.

So does every other race, but apparently giving a ā€œClip hairā€ option to transmog for hats is just way too much work.

Could easily do the same thing for Dracthyr. Their heads are semi-Worgen-shaped, so I don’t see why they can’t now.

Blows my mind that they didn’t allow Dracthyr to wear armor. Everything except feet, or at least doing what they did with Draenai hooves to boots, should’ve been appropriate.

So much for ā€œWe’re using AI to better fit armor to races and add hair to helmets so our designers don’t have to do that boring work.ā€ they said a few years back.

I hope one day y’all get what makes you happy for Dracthyr.

Ok this is something I have been wanting forever as I HATE the lizard form. Can you give examples of some spells that would be mandatory to show the draconic form?

IIRC there were some very very mild evidence of Evoker housing NPCs wearing hand items that were bugged a bit, so I’d presume those were being experimented on?

Maybe the transmog issue is something that will take a long time to fix, so I think this is sort of a band-aid for those who want to get at least something of Evoker transmog.

:dracthyr_yay_animated:  :tada:

Yeah woooohooo finally!
I need to tell my friend who wanted to roleplay in WoW as a half-dragon!
He is going to be so happy, he will probably sub and by the expansion today!

From a Dev Team Leader point of view, I’m not surprise DH and Evoker share A LOT assets, both in visage and Meta with Dragon form… I suspect that if DH get the option to CC their Meta that when Dracthyr Lizard Dragon form might also get more option for CC.
We already have new Void lore in the form of a quest that would justify DH to fly by manipulating gravity with Void magic, so I think it’s a matter of time and overcoming some of the technical hurdles, since the animations for flying are already there thanks to the existing Dracthyr assets. (IMO ofcourse not that I would know anything about Blizz dev teams cycles and how they work! lol)

Yea hopefully disintegrate has a castable animation out of lizzy form

I dislike this change I’m going to be advocating for a revert

This smells like them giving up on ever giving dracthyr proper transmog on their dragon form.

Me too. Also Deep Breath. I don’t want to transform unless im using a flying ability.

I dont think giving dracthyr transmog was EVER on the table.

Which is crazy because without transmog why even have a new race if you cannot transmog it. But they must of hit some limitation\realized the dracthyr wasnt as popular as they expected the new long awaited dragon race.

I would argue dracthyr isnt popular because of transmog and because it has super weird proportions and animations. (neck is skinny, head is tiny, legs are out of proportion to arms etc). It looks good in the art work but doesnt look that great transfered in game as it does in the art work design for them.

The fact that they look completely different proportion wise in the cinematic really says something. Like look at the proportions of them in the cinematic\trailer they actually have larger necks and they dont look like lizards as much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br3QBFfqpGA

A lot of people in here validating the ā€˜not fixing the sorely lacking armor transmog options’ and letting them get away with giving evokers band-aid solutions. If we were united to telling them we aren’t happy with the lacking transmog instead of half of us telling them we’re satisfied with them ignoring the dragon form, maybe we’d actually get armor transmog.

That maybe’s doing a lot of heavy lifting in blaming the players for Blizzard’s decisions.

I see it this way. Since they clearly satisfied the visage crowd. Surely the visage crowd won’t ask for MORE visage things RIGHT? (Me looks at you all) Right? At the very least not until Dragon crowd gets there turn in getting dragon things. You know, Customization, Tmog options, something, anything.. It’s our turn, right? Right guys? Guys?..

I think it came about because they likely had the data on how many evokers used the glitch to stay out of dragon form and decided to just make it a toggle thing to avoid blow back from fixing the glitch
