Anyone else also looking forward to the Soar changes tomorrow, more than most other features coming? I’ve been playing my Evoker since the pre-patch and I can say… FINALLY LETS GO.

Absolutely. I mean, I am excited to see what’s happening in Gilneas. Night Elves getting a new capital is neat. But of all the notes in the patch, this is the one that evokes some hype out of me.
This. I know a ton of Gilnean RPers who are heccin’ looking forward to this. Yes, it may seem minor but to some it’s a major event.
I on purpose stopped playing my Evoker too much this season release because i wanted to have reasons to play him a lot once this patch released.
Literally 1 of the 2 things i wanted most for the race since they released, the other one being a tank. Lets hope Blizz gives a surprise along the way and surprise us with class expansion for them before TWW launches
New Soar is amazing and incredible fun.
Now we’re just lacking an Hover ground mount form, something like Hover is permanent and gives mount speed when cast outside of combat. And Soar triggers hover when touching the ground.

New Soar was fun… until I landed and realized I needed to use a mount on the ground anyway. I guess it’s a cool novelty in the meantime?

Great ideas to tie Hover and Soar. I was also disappointed that I couldnt soar while moving during hover. Oversight or a pvp balancing thing?
You can’t summon any mounts while moving…
But it is not a mount, it is a class ability that gives similar functionality to a mount. Similar to Flight Form.
Correct, and similar functionality to a mount would necessitate not being able to cast while moving.

I also don’t hate the changes, its cool style wise, but its lacking. We need to stay in mount mode when touching down is my only wish and the 10sec cd doesn’t help it any. It’s not like it would give us any advantage over anyone else if they made it full blown dragonriding with ground mount mode.
Worgen get a ground mount mode. And I mean, druids get instant cast dynamic-flight which definitely leaves every other class wanting.

Like I said before, Soar flying is awesome, they just need to add Hover into the mix to complete the whole package. Soar for flying, Hover for ground movement.
Right now its not really worth it to use soar since you’ll have to wait the cooldown and cant really use it for short distances (say Valdrakken AH to bank and stuff)

You can definitely use it for short distances because the initial leap gets enough vertical distance that even if you had zero vigor to start, you can get somewhere.
Also, found Aerial Halt to be incredibly useful and easier to work with while using Soar compared to the large dragonriding mounts, would be able to Soar > speed boost a few times, hit Aerial Halt and be weightless so you can stop, turn, gain a free point of vigor back if you were going fast when you hit it, then speed boosting again even in a completely different direction.

Honestly I just really love that no matter what blizzard does to improve things, there are even more complaints than before.
We have better racials than most already. If you need to mount more than once every ten seconds you’re probably gathering and should just use a regular dragon anyhow.

I think that being a ground mechanism for Hover would be a small win too, especially with the 25 yard range being a bit annoying.
Its just better in general to use regular dragon just because you don’t get dismounted on the ground and get the ground movement speed increase.
Also on regular dragon, you dont have to recast the mount if your on the ground to get back in the air, you just double jump (Skyward Ascent).
Thats the only thing soar is missing + it has a 10sec cd albeit not that significant, its still there. I only use soar when im bored and just flying around Valdrakken.

I wish our Evoker “flight form” could persist when mining/herbing.
Also, bumping into a rock while soaring but then “auto dismounting” is pretty dangerous.
Maybe if we could retain flight form/soar mode for 5 seconds after “landing” or bumping into things?

i just hope we can eventually toggle soar from dragon riding to regular flying and back again. I know other classes and mounts will get this in the new expansion but sucks that soar was fixed but if I want to fly normally its back to a dragon on a mount again.
