Time for you to take a break. If you are feeling this way for the first time in 17 years, and at a time when patches are at their longest, than it’s a you problem unfortunately.
Honestly, it’s the lull. I know what you mean.
Despite the changes, there is still very “little” to do, and what there is, we’ve already been doing.
Running a weekly M+ for the vault is still my “primary” thing for my 3 toons, but there’s no zeal for it. One toon is farming anima to max out the Abominable Stitching station. Those weeklies are casual enough to be fun.
But, that’s all there is. I have “get the legendary” on the 12th burner in the back for my 2 alts, at a low simmer. Both tank/dps, so I need two. But - there’s no passion for it.
Just seems like a long bit of desert between now an 9.2.
The point of the game is to have fun and accomplish things “in the moment”.
Personally I enjoy the freedom to stop or come back to the game when the game is fun or not without being massively behind.
“Removing catchup”. Uh, what? No, that’s bad. If you think that “elitist gatekeeping” is a thing now, the world without catchup was far, far worse.
For those new at the game, threads like this are a thing every expansion, since power resets to let new players and alts play the new content is how the game works, and hell, last few interviews have been Blizzard saying that they did a bad job about it and that 9.2 is going to make it easier.
