but it wouldn’t be the first system where you need to figure out how two things are related but not necessarily shouldn’t be
I haven’t always liked the idea of every race for every class. Then I realized how it is in D&D, and it seems like it should be in this game. I think Blizzard wanted to shoe-horn us into certain characters with certain backstories, but it sounds like they’re changing the starting area to be a little more general in SL?
If so, then allowing all races and classes will give players more agency of what they’re playing.
Everything except hero classes should be restricted. DHs and DKs should only be made more available when a lore justification can be made (like they just did with DK). Otherwise it just ruins the significance of the lore behind those classes.
I am arguing for restriction in that it’s one Character per account. I don’t like the idea of them being unlimited.
In terms of it being unintuitive I think it’s used in many other games. It makes achievement points matter. I think it’s a good system. I don’t like pathfinder either.
That’s not good of enough a justification for Blizzard to bind it to having ONLY one character, after getting 15k achievement points. You’d have to literally farm achieve points for something that has no relation to it.
It sounds worse than grinding rep to get ARs, which at least directly correlates to that race you’re going to be unlocking.
Honestly, I don’t think it’d happen either way with the way blizzard is running as of late. I’d rather just like, slowly open up one or two classes per race at a time, maybe have a different class be acceptable to all races (like warrior is). Maybe hunter…?
Nevertheless, I know it has to appeal to both parties, new players and old, so maybe start with a few before going ham, honestly. I wouldn’t touch dh though, given that it’s a hero class, it wouldn’t make sense lore-wise.
“Y’know, tauren are born hunters. You ever see a tauren catch a salmon out of a stream? It really is quite exciting. You ever see a tauren stalk a python? 'Course you haven’t. That’s because tauren are so adept at blending in with their surroundings.”
