The next zug fix, to make sure Horde has smaller queue times: Blizzard will randomly select alliance players to force them into AV, and won’t let them /afk out. If the alliance player disconnects from the game, as soon as they log back in they will be put into AV again. The alliance player will not be able to leave the game until the game is over.
They moved the cave in TBC because of the reinforcement mechanics that were added.
AV isn’t broken right now. If it were then other regions wouldn’t be seeing close to a 50/50 win rate. The problem is a lot of allies are leeching, afking, or even botting in AV because it’s easier to go unnoticed doing this than it is in smaller numbered BGs. It’s also an issue of people trying to maximize honor per hour by killing honor targets then intentionally losing to get into the next game for more honor.
The long que times motivated us to try, not give up and gave us time to farm mats for consumables.
I use invis potions to get to the back line. And that’s how I find leeches so often. I kill them first, even though my initial target was supposed to be healers.
Other regions don’t have the faction disparity that ours does so there are no long queue times. Their meta is to both race and see who gets it done fastest. Their situation is not comparable to ours because they basically ignore the enemy entirely to get the most honor per hour.
It isn’t about superiority. The best horde players will mostly still queue AV because that is still where the best H/Hr is located. The same is NOT true for alliance. The best H/Hr is located running premades in AB/WSG specifically because they have instant queues and the likelihood of a very fast victory is significantly higher.
Long story short, the near instant queue does more to hurt Alliance in AV than anything about the terrain simply because your best players aren’t in there game after game. This is exactly why Horde lost so much in AV 15 years ago when the queue times were reversed. Why queue up for a loss / long game with less honor when there is a more productive BG available?
It is what it is. Change the cave location. It isn’t going to modify the mindset because it isn’t going to significantly change the current win rate. The only thing that changes the current win rate is altering how long it takes for Alliance players to get wins in AB/WSG. And ultimately even something like making those games Premade vs. Premade is unlikely to alter how AV is played / how many good players queue up for it.
Honestly, at this point I would prefer they bring back premades to AV simply because the games were more interesting when good alliance players were in there.
Because the Horde’s best players are in AV and the Alliance’s best players are in AB/WSG.
This is straight up player tendency to go to the location with the most H/Hr. Until the best players from the Alliance side go back to AV, there will be no change in this particular tendency of horde dominating team fights.
Think about this sentence for a moment. Does anyone ever chastise the horde for “rushing SH gy”? No, of course not. So why is it so common to mock “rushing ibgy”?
You can imagine the Jeopardy theme music while you think about that one, but I will cut to the answer. They are not equivalent situations. Horde attacking SH is the logical and obvious thing to do, Alliance attacking IB gy is a gamble.
I’ve won plenty of AV games the past few weeks from spreading the aforementioned strat. However people seem to of tried to mod it by hiding at SHGY till horde cap SFGY and rush ibgy and fail. Alliance sometimes just refuse to adapt and learn, meanwhile horde adapted many times.
Horde is not some ungodly force, they just have a huge map advantage in AV which leads to their high win rate.
Your strat does not change that and it assumes a very coordinated alliance team vs a very below average horde team. In which case the alliance team can just zerg.
They would if your best players were defending SHGY and they smashed the Horde players at that point which was quite common during the premade days and not because the alliance had premades. It was common because your best players were in AV. Now they are in AB/WSG while Horde still has its best players farming AV.
I’m gonna hit you with some crazy knowledge here. Alliance defend SHGY wrong. They get pushed into a corner and bottlenecked instead of encircling the entire area and pushing back.
Why can horde go to shgy but alliance can’t go to ibgy? Because
Alliance
Need
A
Graveyard
In
Mid.
Horde gy is also mid.
There are 3 graveyards in mid.
Alliance don’t push to SFGY and get hit from two, count em 2 fronts. That’s how horde take shgy easily.
Yes, because they were trying to avoid the situation we have today. Hours long queues for horde because alliance simply won’t queue when horde abuse their map advantage.
