They’re copying the Marvel cosmology with how the universe is mechanical, magic is just technology, and Celestials create and iterate on Eternals.
Elune was 3D printed.
This is dumb

The MCU and it’s consequences has been a disaster for humanity and the entire entertainment industry.
Zovaal of course wants to smash the machine unnecessarily creating Afterlives and redirect all the Souls to the Maw. Sylvanas wants to simply smash the machine.
Logic dictates hacking the Machine and getting creative with it not smashing the thing! The Arbiter is only intended to choose which Afterlife fits each Soul best not decide which Afterlives exist which of course is the Shadowlands’ primary flaw.
Creating another Heaven Realm to receive Honorable Souls that don’t want to lose their Memories would be in order for one thing.
Not repeating the event that turned Sylvanas into a worse Villain would also be something to keep in mind when hacking the device:
Villains as Evil as Sylvanas was during WotLK(and not as Evil as the Zill’kee the World Reaper, Vortophe the Unspeakable or Thogro the Devourer) that didn’t get assigned to Revendreth due to being deemed incapable of repentance would get sent to an Inescapable Grand City filled with Backalleys where there are scheming backstabbers(some made by the Forge of Afterlives itself) in every corner.
Of course in the name of Free Will we should have provision for Souls who don’t want their Afterlife decided for them so one of the Afterlives forged will come with a Race with a similar function as the Kyrian who can offer the Souls a pick of a variety of Afterlives deposited in a specific inescapable spot in the Shadowlands or resurrect them at whatever age or form they want if they want to return to life.
This new Race will only hand the Soul over to a Kyrian if the Soul wants all choice taken out of it’s hands. The Kyrian of course would only take Souls that are ready for the Shadowlands as usual and not before.
If the Soul wants a specific type of Afterlife that hasn’t been created in the inescapable part of the Shadowlands then the new Race would search the Soul’s mind for it’s ideal Afterlife and submit it to the Forge of Afterlives to be created.
Zovaal like the Brokers sees the Shadowlands as Reality itself. Naturally he’s biased.
Eventually Humanity will discover how to make Pocket Universes and will 3D Print our works of Fiction into Reality themselves…
Of course certain naysayers will start announcing how no one should have this power and ban it though obviously not before the inventor gets enough Works of Fiction to make everything wonderous and grand.
How I wish “9.2 being in Northrend” leaks were true. Oh well, at least there’s no 9.3 and the SL circus will be over soon.
I’m 100% here for all our ‘fix it’ fanfictions.
They could’ve done it like 8.3. Have the Maw leaking in through the sky into Icecrown. Though I do prefer having a new zone compared to that.
Do you just use a macro to make your posts now? That’s how repetitive they are.
It’s resolved, for better or worse, get over it.
But as far as my reaction… NEW TAMES!
Which ones? Might be the only saving grace, if I can get cool new pets
I’m 100% here for all our ‘fix it’ fanfictions.
Personally I would like a device capable of making Planets to our exact specifications thrown into our Solar System:
Furthermore each Planet will be linked to a Pocket Universe(that if turned inside out would be infinitely vast) tied to that Planet’s theme.
In the end by the time the technology is banned we should have redesigned our remote corner of the Galaxy to our specifications!
Back in the latter days of D&D 3.X, I remember a module coming out that was set in an area of the Postive Material Plane which was the place where souls are created. The atmosphere has the same kind of resonance for me.
It looks generic and boring. They found a way to timegate language which means another Kortia Artifact Knowledge type scenario. And the story premise is boiled down to synthetics (Light) vs organics (Void) at the dawn of the Universe.
Timegating has been Blizzard’s thing from the getgo. It’s just more obvious now.
Could have been worse, they could have announced a new Renown 120 level for covenants.
I think they planned to make these cyphers tied to renown (12 cyphers, 20 renown left to 100, allows for spacing) but they instead put it external for obvious reasons
I really hate that Blizzard insists on tying this expansion to Warcraft 3.
Same. Like how they were saying that Shadowlands is the finale of a “trilogy”. Part 1 being WC3 (mainly Frozen Throne), part 2 being Wrath and part 3 being shadowlands.
Dear Blizzard,
Stop pretending that you had this Jailer guy planned from WC3. Stop claiming that the work of previous writers as your own. Tell original stories but don’t try and act like it was the conclusion of some grand master plan in story telling. Just stop. Saying that the Jailer was the one truly behind the Lich King. It is lazy story telling. Make him an actual character first. You can have 100% evil doers that want nothing more than absolute control and still have a personality. The Senate from Star Wars is a prime example of that.
After looking in the comment section of the video, it seems like a good chunk of people want the Jailer to win. For different varies reason Im sure.
I strongly suspect that the Story will end with the lesson that the one Judging Souls should be none other than the Forge of Afterlives itself!
The Arbiter sends Souls to improper Afterlives(like in the cases of Uther, Morgraine and Sylvanas) because there is no better place for the Soul at the time(thus forcing their Afterlives to change to suit them) and Zovaal was fed up with having to include the New Afterlives in his calculations for Souls.
Clearly only the Machine of Death itself should sort Souls not anyone else! The First Ones in the end were too into giving everything separate roles and endangered the Shadowlands unnecessarily by splitting the role of sorting Souls and creating Afterlives into two separate cogs in their grand design(with one cog being sentient & biased).
Of course we must now ask: What comes next?
Considering the Caverns of Time is most certainly Zereth Tempus(Ion’s Interview indicates there are Zereths for each Cosmic Realm) I strongly suspect that Elune and Tyrande would attempt to restore the Night Elves using Zereth Tempus’s World construction ability to bring a World based on Pre-Sundering Kalimdor into reality.
I suspect that all AUs are Simulations set up by Zereth Tempus
Of course the rest of the Pantheon of Life would of course make the excuse that since Elune made a world with Zereth Chronos they can too and start going bananas with the Machine of Time and Space giving us a sky filled with Azeroths and at least 1 Draenor(Apexis Empire Draenor to be specific considering An’she the Sun God is in the Pantheon of Life).
In order to curb the comedic use of Zereth Tempus to a manageable level and prevent accidental summoning of dangerous threats to the Planet we of course have to visit the Gardens of Life.
Furthermore Patch 10.1 will involve the Primals and Emerald Nightmare cutting in to hack Zereth Tempus and bring in Nightmare Azeroth and Sporemound Draenor. Patch 10.2 will involve the Naaru cutting in causing even more Madness by bringing in AU Draenor.
Eventually by 10.3 Nozdormu will have a meltdown and become Murozond using Zereth Tempus to become equal to if not stronger than Zovaal after his Avatar in the End Time simulation is killed. Murozond will be the Villain of the Pantheon of Life Expansion and attempt to invade Zereth Vita because he sees Life as a threat to Sanity.
It’s weird how they included “cute” creatures in the place where afterlives are forged.
At 9:22 of the video is that an unhooded Sylvanas?
I suspect the Cosmic Forces as presented aren’t what the First Ones saw them as:
Order was supposed to be Time, Death was supposed to be Fate, Life was supposed to be Birth, Light was supposed to be Order and Void was supposed to be Chaos.
The Twisting Nether’s existence of course brought down that notion as the First Ones’ clash over creation(Infinite Possibilities and Evolution vs Order and Obedience) caused true Chaos to manifest as the Twisting Nether.
As I myself have noted: The reaction of Xe’ra to Light’s Heart either means Elune created Xe’ra or… …Xe’ra created Elune.
If the Naaru are WoW’s version of the Vorlons then Elune is the Naaru Xe’ra’s creation with Sire Denathrius being a reckless creation of the Void Lords(explaining why Revendreth is hurt by the Light) as a compromise for the Naaru creating the rest of the Pantheon of Death. Zovaal of course is a hybrid work which backfired on both Void and Light.
The Twisting Nether being true Chaos of course leaves the Void as just Infinite Possibilities and Evolution thus resulting in their Mantid Minion Iyyokuk the Lucid stating that Chaos is Order unrecognized by a lesser mind since as far as the Void is concerned their Infinite Possibilities and Cycle of Evolution is Order. Chaos is an anomaly in both groups of First Ones’ design.
The 7th Cosmic Force is also an anomaly. It envies what the other 6 Cosmic Forces hold… WoW’s version of 3rd Space Aliens are coming… if they aren’t the Devourers…
