I think you know the answers to these questions already.
I guarantee they wanted to and someone in the office had to have them consider the backlash of changing the name of a very popular dungeon just to signal to the woke crowd that they are virtuous.

Bingo. I have it changed anyway as a macro to Enslave Demon. I’m not conforming to their real world Political Agenda.
This is a video game. Enslaving Demons is a thing. Sounds much better too.

In terms of class fantasy the Warlock is heavily inspired by occultism and according to occultism demons are not enslaved, they are bound and subjugated. So the word was possibly changed to better fit the class fantasy.

In fantasy lore, both terms represent extreme forms of dark magic. In terms of sheer, dominating language, Enslave carries a more permanent and severe connotation, which is exactly why Blizzard entertainment shifted to Subjugate to focus on the combat mastery aspect of a Warlock’s toolkit.

the problem being it was actually enslave demon to begin with and after the woke nonsense crowd got involved it was changed.

i wouldnt call it a “massive” outcry but many many eyes were rolled as a result.
Nah, certain people come in and don’t like things.
Like the fruit incident. As if even 90% of players even knew the old pictures were on the wall. Rush, kill. rush, kill. Kharazon is not a fine wine to be sipped and savored. You down that like a shot to get it done.
If people are that much into level design to notice, I’d personally say play retail. CN raid in SL I admit I wished we slowed down since it had nice level design. I wanted to take in its textures. Nope….you are on the clock there too lol.

Well, ya. I imagine everyone’s eyes rolled at least at the picture change. I was just asking because there were mentions of some crowd of people getting involved to cause the changes, but I don’t remember hearing about that
i am not aware that there was or not to be honest, though i wouldnt put it past people that think that way to be lobbying for it.
this was changed around the time that that became the big thing on the net and all the “woke” stuff became prevalent so ya.
