Those people who like a set to play Storm build are 1 button spamers. Season 3 Tier Set is super good, and for those who wish a tier set to be good in raid and meta in m+, that doesnt exists.
What is skill issue for $500?
Why can’t we just have 2 options? That way everyone can play what they want?
You continuously have a good increase of haste in S3, how is it -not- faster?
Constant personal PI lol
You could argue S2 has a higher damage ceiling, but I don’t even think that’s accurate anymore after it got hemorrhaged.
Bet you were a fan of covenants in 9.0 then.
You do. You can play Storm Build right on live right this moment. Contrary to belief, your PC won’t explode if you use a GCD to hit Pwave instead of Stormstrike every once in a while.
They did, Enhance is a solid choice in M+ and is one of the most viable specs in the raid which is performing well on every fight except Tindral but still providing boss damage over root damage. Versus season 2 where all the single target fights Enhance was middle of the road except Kazara (yippie) and Elementalist on Echo and Sark was one of the best specs in the game with the perfect damage profile for p2 and p3 for both those fights. I can guarantee with the fight designs for these fights, you would only play Storm on 3 fights and Elementalist on the rest. Hell, IDK with the requirement of on-demand burst for the mythic add, you would probably play Elementalist on Mythic Nymue over Storm.
I really like this season’s tier set and the playstyle associated with it but I definitely see what people are saying about it limiting build options and how some people don’t like primordial wave. Fair enough tbh since I wasn’t big on the s2 tier set because sundering feels awkward to me.
A tier set forcing you to choose a playstyle or build you don’t enjoy can’t feel fun because you are left with 3 options:
a) suck it up and do the new playstyle
b) accept the throughput loss and play your preferred playstyle
c) reroll or relax until next season
Especially for specs like this one, adding an npc to talk to and choose the tier set we commit to and chase in season 4 would probably be the best option to make the most people happy.
Sure at the top of the ladders, there will be a bis tier set but at least there will be a viable alternative for the rest of us who aren’t enjoying that playstyle. It’s a recap/filler season so it’s the perfect time to let your hair down and have a good time instead of being a meta slave.
No is the same, Primordial and Wolfs no make viable the storm build on s3, and the Primordial obliges to use Lava Lash, it makes to lose points to use in lighting talents…
or make all 3 sets available in S4 in their respective Raids, all happy, make diversity on playstyles, and they can test what would happen if there are several sets at the same time.
A season where you can see the same class playing in very different ways would be nice.
You think that but then you’d have people screeching for Storm to get giga buffed when Elementalist still beats it out. Even with the season 2 tier set, the Elementalist build-out performed the storm cleave and storm/nova build despite being target capped at 6. You lost so much on-demand consistent single target burst not playing Elementalist to the point it didn’t matter you gained higher mass AoE damage, especially on Tyrannical. And that’s considering you weren’t able to run Elemental Blast.
A lot of yall seem to think that having the tier set from Season 2 will somehow magically make Storm stronger. The spec tree itself played way more of a reason as to why Storm was even good on single target in season 2. If anything having the season 2 tier set with the current tree would still solidify Elementalist a being the better build.

xD and the image no have logic, maybe is representation of you trying to think why the S3 set doesn’t fit in storm build… (Spoiler: it’s not quite the primordial wave) xD…
Season 3 tier set does fit in Storm. It does. In a single target you are getting 99% of the same talents you would have run with 1 point taken out of Molten Assult to put into pwave and you just hit pwave to get the extra Wolf.
M+ you lose DRE stuff which was arguably the weakest aspect of storm cleave given how unreliable it was. What you get instead is a haste buff, on-demand burst, and increased nature damage which then flows perfectly into your Doomwinds + Crash cleave and more single target consistency which again was a weakness of Season 2 Storm cleave build. Not to mention more haste which Storm prefers over Mastery.
I confirm you only copy/paste builds and you dont have idea…
Right because the guy who is attempting (and failing) to do Pwave cleave on Saurids in Atal can come up with a 4 chess Storm build better than Theorycrafters.
At any rate, comparing the tier set bonus with our current tree, the season 3 set does more for both builds than the season 2 set bonus would.
S3 is faster because S3 have more haste uptime than S2. PWave in S3 with 4p is insane because we get 3rd elemental wolves and all type of elemental wolves are boosting EB. The damage profile of Elementalist is very diversity: ST, on-demand ST burst, AoE, 3 targets, funnel and more. For example, totem boss in TotT where you need to kill the totem very fast. You can PWave 10 seconds (PWave buff last 15 seconds) before the totem and hold Lightning Bolt > EB > build MSW > burn the totem with LB / Hailstorm / LL / more. The damage profile of Storm is very shallow because it doesn’t have any controlled burst, no good crossover talents (forced you to make a choice between AoE or ST), funnel and more. Storm build is very frustrating and boring to play because it’s one button spamming and triple RNG elements.
He’s 100% correct. The problem for storm build is even with S1/S2, it doesn’t beat S3 Elementalist in about everything. Storm have a huge flaws in talent tree and core design, you can’t fix storm with tuning and set bonus.
Yeah the extra 40% haste makes it slower…
???
Weak argument as actual power #s don’t matter according to blizzard who will be re-tuning the sets apparently.
Also, numbers aside, it really just isn’t. Sundering gave enh a burst window in that set whereas current set gives constant damage all the time, and even more when it aligns with adds (funnel).
Also false.
rank 3 us enh in one segment and 3.3k io last season, here to tell you that you should just read your own char name for how insightful you are here.
Boy you sure did put a lot of words in my mouth just so you could have a scarecrow to argue against. My comment was just to let people choose what they want and have fun with it.
If you want to talk numbers, builds or bis or whatever else, please don’t ping me because I do not care.
Man, compare the 2 sets at ilvl 450 and you will see that set S2 has more damage than S3 under the same conditions. When Amigdrassil came out and I had the LFR set, combined with Normal pieces, I refused to change the S2 set because it did a brutal damage of 120k average while the S3 LFR/Normal only got 110k maximum, until I changed all the pieces and I didn’t reach 465 ilvl, I didn’t see a change in the damage between one set and another…
And what I’m saying is because I tried it at the time.
That seems like an incredibly unreliable means to test the differences in tier sets. Fight consistency is going to vary significantly based group comp, kill time, procs, RNG of mechanics, and uptime due to factors in your control and out of control will cause you to experience an extreme amount of variance in damage which a 10k DPS swing can very much occur especially with the Season 3 set since uptime will drastically affect feral spirit CDR, which then affects primordial way CDR and affects how much uptime you get on that 3rd nature damage wolf. Not to mention, utilizing the different tier sets also requires rotation differences you have to account for which will increase rotation errors while playing the new tier set until you get use to them.
