Engineering Importance on PVP Realm

Which grenade is that?

I looked it up. Iron grenade, as far as I know as the first stun grenade, requires engineering. The only non-engineering throwables are ez dynamite and ez dynamite II.

Let’s not pretend that engineering wasn’t a giant pain to level up. You’ll spend way more gold than you’ll ever make on it.

That said, it locks up your mirror matches against anyone that doesn’t have it.

Thanks for all the perspectives. I really didn’t notice engineering as much until pvp became a primary focus with all the bgs and the grind for ranks. Even then, it was mostly for some of the fun gadgets and not for the grenades.

I just saw such a contrast in videos for pservers and the beta streams that it made me wonder if it was going to be a critical need on a pvp realm. Since my first toon will be mage I was aiming to go tailor/herb and drop tailor after creating my robe for alchemy. This was because alchemy was king back on my PVE realm with all the raiding we did. I might drop herb after awhile as we approach phase 2 and snag engineering.

What it really boils down to, is if you intend to min/max fully, its PROBABLY in your best interests to Engi. PvP is a consideration, but its all about how hard you intend to min/max.

You are correct, the meta is different for pvp on the private servers than it was in Vanilla. Hard to say what direction Classic will turn. I suspect that mats were easier and hence cheaper to come by on many of the private servers, hence the engineering consumables were more in evidence. We shall see.

Worst case, you can always drop a prof and pick up engineering at some later date if you feel handicapped in pvp without it.

Seems that way, occasionally you get those people throwing bombs at you but it wasn’t everything on a pvp server back then.
