Endgame content is bad

Mythic+ was a feature of Legion. Personally, I find it incredibly boring at this point. Raid content has been the same for years. I enjoyed Castle Nathria but the rewards were lackluster. The latest improvment to PvP was vendors and even then the deterministic gearing is undermined by the Great Vault. Where’s the new endgame content? Torghast? Once you acquire a max ilvl legendary then what? Wait for the next patch to upgrade it higher? The in-game store removes the validity of a cosmetic endgame. I enjoy the class gameplay of WoW, but it seems as though Blizzard has given up on providing a meaningful form of character progression.

Anyway, here’s some general improvements for the game:
PvE vendors - currency for dungeons and raids would remove rng and make PvE content worth the time investment.
New content - I’d love to see Blizzard break the formula and experiment with new forms of gameplay. Just take a look at Guild Wars 2, the game’s not perfect, but at least the developers are willing to try something new each update.
Remove borrowed power - it sucks. It’s not fun. The balance team can’t make it work. Remove it.
Quests - bring back the RPG in MMORPG. I’d love to see more meaningful quests and a larger focus on player choice as opposed to the boring “fetch me a dozen more bear arses”.

Perhaps I’m simply no longer the target audience for WoW but I see so much untapped potential in the game. I just wish the devs would take the time to play the game they’re creating in order to understand how it feels to play it.

If anyone’s got any more ideas for game improvements, please post them. Alternatively, if anyone has a great reason why they continue to play WoW I’d love to hear it. I’m on the fence about quitting at this point, because I don’t feel it’s worth the $20 AUD/month for sub.

Maybe they do play it and like it and you don’t anymore? Ideas on how to make the game better could be helpful though I wouldn’t hold my breathe.

I hate diablo. If I wanted to play diablo, I would play diablo.

Give more story driven quests at 60. The covenant campaign quests were not enough.

Amen. M+ is a terrible thing to have in an MMORPG. It doesn’t belong, it encourages terrible behavior and like you said if I wanted to play hack and slack and timed infinite scaling content I would just play Diablo.

That is no surprise that there was a strong rumor at the end of warlords that they brought over the Diablo 3 team to work on wow. Given everything we’ve gotten since then I completely believe it since they have turned wow into Diablo lite.

Actual endless Torghast would be nice. Just…get stupid with it. I’ve done TC layer 8, so I have no reason to continue doing torghast outside of the 30 minute weekly soul ash farm.

So because you don’t like the endgame content, which has been essentially the same since the game started with the exceptions of Mythic plus for the past 5 ish years and the great vault, you think it’s bad.

I loved Diablo and solo’d a ton of it. Diablo rains loot, M+ does not. There is barely a similarity.

/shrug I did dungeons in From Vanilla all the way into Cata for the entire expansion. I just don’t buy that you need 15 levels of difficulty to keep dungeons current.

Then again I hate that they removed 10 man raids too. I loved those as a casual player. To me they were basically the same as UBRS. I found a combo of those worked way better for me than the current mythic + craziness and 25 man raids.

M+ is the only system that has successfully kept dungeons relevant in a meaningful way all expansion. This is just an objective fact. M+ is their most successful system design in the history of the game.

You know, I never recall them not until they started with that, let alone hear people saying it’s something they wanted. Sounds like it was the top 1% who felt that because I barely recall anyone thinking this was a problem in Wrath/Cata/MOP/WoD

Not, it really isn’t. Again from 2004 all the way through to MOP it was just not the case. In fact guess what? Instead of Blizzard trying to balance 15 levels of difficulty back then they released /gasp MORE dungeons in the same expac.

You can objective fact all you want. You are just wrong. Gear meant something in normal dungeons because we did not have to squeeze in 15 levels of difficulty between it and raiding.

Unless you mean making dungeon gear as good as raid gear which then yes they did try to do that and it failed badly. Now we have the mess that is Shadowlands.

Mythic + is poison. You might not see it at frist like in Legion, but it really has messed with the entire end game. Diablo and WoW don’t mix.

Something tells me a lot of that is due to the e-peen flexing/“Look at how good I am” mindset which has infested gaming the past few years. The entire system is a complete 180 from what a MMORPG is meant to be which is evident because no other MMORPG has felt that mixing e-sports/diablo 3 style grinds was a good thing.

There were a lot of better ways to keep dungeons relevant, if that was even something that needed to be done, than turn the game into Diablo.

Yes and no…? Keeping 5 man content relevant is nice but doing the same dungeons over and over gets boring.

Maybe if they came out with a system that rotates the dungeons themselves every week would work as well. For example lets say instead of 8 dungeons we have 16. Only 4 of them are activated in a single week with the current M+ system still there as well. Plus add a badge system for gear on top of it.

They keep moving Diablo people over to the WoW team so yeah…

Get back to pre-WoD basics in many ways.

No scaling! Zero in new content. Let players feel more powerful as they level. Let them feel more powerful as they get new gear. Let all players feel heroic within the content they do. And limit scaling in old content so that it is only a thing for leveling.

More kinds of rewards. Gear, mounts, pets, and abstract bits of stuff that allow you to fill a bar. All getting old. Bring imagination to the table.

At this point the game needs entirely new leadership that isn’t devoted to theorycrafting and limited in understanding players.
