Goals the player sets for themselves are good.
Developer directed goals not so much.
It was better when it was goals the player had for the character they were playing. Be it making the best fire lock or the best shadow priest, toying with stats and all that to build the best character. The journey through leveling and getting rare items from dungeons and raids.
That was essentially what made it fun. All of it really just open to the player to make their own goals in the sandboxed environment.
Developer driven content which is all on rails is a short shelf life. People tend to enjoy it once or twice through. That’s about it.
Making these things a daily grind for 12-36 months is never going to be a winning strategy.

How does doing all this stop burnout? It Would entice many people to play ore to become mode powerful,
That being said yea the content drought is rough, hurry up SL.
Agreed 100%. Dev goals seem developed by addiction psychologists. Way different than how people used to approach th8jgs in games,

I cant wait till pre patch and SL launch. I’m struggling to log in these days. My sub is over in 5 days and I’m not resubbing until pre patch. I love this game but right now its not fun for me
the corruptions not being a cycle would be nice tho & raising ilvl of warfronts, would be nice… prolly wont happen
I want at least a few weeks of max rank cloak before prepatch. I wanna see how ridiculous Twilight can get the more I stack it.
Wish you had of wrote this first so I could have stopped reading there.
