Quick question:
If both the Emerald Dream and the Shadowlands are both tied to Azeroth’s reality.
Why is it that the Emerald Dream is the only one that is directly tied to Azeroth and a mirror to what Azeroth would have looked like without intervention by the Old Gods/Titans/and the various races over the millennium.
So my question is, why are the Shadowlands not a direct reflection of Azeroth on the opposite spectrum?
Were as Emerald Dream is like Pangea and full of life, The Shadowlands should also look like Pangea just full of death and decay.
They are Basically Heaven and Hell, only in Blizzard’s eyes, everyone goes to hell when you die.
I mean, except for the part where they don’t resemble heaven and hell in any way.

Some odd assumptions, SL is just the afterlife in general for most, in fact the Emerald dream is largely the afterlife for animals rather than sentient bipedal races. The Emerald dream is as it is, because while it is the primordial design for Azeroth, it itself is largely artificial, being created by the Titan keeper Freya on Eonar’s orders. In this sense they were designed by different creators, the SL by the First ones, a set of god-like eldritch entities who created the other lesser pantheons of the cosmic forces, and the other created by a group of their creations, specifically the created Titan known as Eonar through her keepers .
maybe the shadowlands does mirror azeroth its not the one we know though maybe itz a azeroth dead… we know it’s a worldsoul unborn being born is about as oposite to life aka.emerald dream as I can think of and so is the shadowlands
What the Emerald Dream is has changed many times over the years, as has who created it. Original(maybe) it was some realm that the Green Dragons guarded that served as the blueprint to Azeroth, and place for Wild Gods to regenerate and druids to ‘dream.’
I’m pretty sure the whole Emerald Dream being the Spring/Summer to the Ardenweald’s Autumn/Winter is just interview spitballing. Things go there to take a nap, not to blossom.
Until there is a Life expansion and the writers say “what Freya did was open up a pocket realm after asking Elune for help,” the current information of the Emerald Dream does support what the interviews claim it is. If the First Ones created the Shadowlands to work in some synchronized relationship with the ‘Gardens of Life,’ then why would the Titans need to make the connection?
It just comes down to the new lore still hasn’t adapted all the old lore to support it yet.
