Default UI – maybe by the end of DF if the UI team sticks to constant updates. They’ve admitted it still needs work, so I’d be willing to give it another go with their next major update. For now, sticking with ElvUI.
You can make it look like whatever you want.
I’ve always preferred to customize my UI myself.
I use ElvUI with the Toxui plug in for it with Luxthos WA’s.
When the UI changes came out. I deleted Elvui. I WANTED to use Blizzard UI and cut down on addons.
Right now I am using Elvui. That is all you need to know.
I hate ElvUI. I’ve tried it in two separate expansions. As soon as it’s installed it automatically overwrote all of my technical settings, and proceeded to clash with other addons. There was some functionality missing from it that I needed back in WoD, and when I tried it again in Legion it was still a problem.
Ultimately, I find it to be a bloated suite of addons with high overhead that could be accomplished with different addons that had more customization and less overhead.
Wow ui lacks elvui qol stuff.
Wow ui nameplates and unitframes suck.
Elvui is still better IMO, the new UI improvements, while great, are still lacking.
I use:
Bartender
Weakauras
Shadow Unit Frames
Plater (I think plater?) nameplates
Sexymap
I tried the new WoW UI but it doesn’t have a lot of the things that I’m used to, and it’s not as customizable as I was led to believe it would be.
I used to use ELVUI but a lot of my time was spent turning things off or finetuning them. So I’d rather just make my own UI from things I’m more familiar with.
I ended up going with WoWUI and deleted Elvui and Shadow/Light.
I was able to customize at least for what I use and make it work.
It’s not perfect but I am able to adapt and get use to a few things
If you really want the feeling of having the old OG UI back before it got ruined, then get ClassicUI I used to use Bartender4 but found ClassicUI works and looks so much more like what we used to have.
The new Blizzard user interface does not have nearly enough options for me to drop ElvUI.
I prefer WoWs new UI. Elv made sense when they decided not to update for 17 years rofl.
Still too much about the Blizz default that I don’t like so Elv it is for me
to be fair ELVui Nameplates suck. Plater is 10x better
For me i only really used elvui because it had better actionbars. I always used plater for nameplates and WA’s for other things.
But for some reason elvui always felt laggy even on a high performance computer things i noticed were freezes when you completed a dungeon or killed a boss and this is with wow on a M.2 drive.
I have not gotten that yet with base ui since redesign. Maybe Elvui better now but again i only used it for more action bars since i can get more now and move them to the way i like them it feels just like extra bloat for me
I dropped Elvui for the new default. Less add-ons is always good, and I can do basically the same layout I’m used to from using Elvui.
Bartender ?
I stopped using bartender and other UI like stuff since the change. I prefer to play with as few addons as possible, especially ones that eat memory. Would be great if damage meters went away too
