thats mot what the dev said. lol. he said blizzard created a f mess and want that the dev fix this for free and he is not willing to help without payment. so again for you to understand no one works for free especially not for a billion dollar company. btw the under laying framework to design the addon is broken too. so customize your frames wont work in midnight at this point

I’ve always thought the WA <> Dev design war is stupid. If players want to trivialize your encounters with WAs, then let them. The game does not need to be ball-crushingly difficult.

Their argument is a complete farce and they know it. Because guess what? You could say THE SAME THING about the people who are hyper casual and demand the entire game to revolve around them lol. Why would they be upset that it doesn’t? It’s just a game, ha! GOTHCA! Don’t even give them the time of day.
Thats not how any of this works, they HAVE to account for what the addons can do

But if this game sucks like SL or BfA did, what are you gonna do? Quit playing and play something else, just like SL or BfA?
It’s just a game, and if they can’t deliver an entertaining experience, then you just play something else that does. Even if that means never playing this game ever again. There’s plenty of games that I used to enjoy for many years that I’ve never touched again because I stopped enjoying them, I’m sure it’s the same for you. It’s not the end of the world, just the end of World of Warcraft lol.
Its still just a game, its not that big of a deal.

Why? What does 99.9% of the playerbase gain from these addon changes or from Mythic raiding/M+ being absurdly difficult?
Nothing. The answer is nothing. They designed the top end of the game for literally 5 guilds in the world. That’s stupid and has always been stupid.

Consider the Mythic HoF. Its a competitive environment. Then it isnt just about the players who want to trivialize the game, its about people who want to play on an even playing field. Is it silly? Sure, but thats how the game has become. So Blizz wants to provide a level playing field that doesn’t require downloading an addon. A lot of stuff is getting caught in the crossfire, like Elvui, because it uses the same API resources the combat addons did

But my point was that these addon changes are not necessary for them to stop designing the game for the Methods and Liquids of the world. You can have an easier, less complex game WITH Weakauras. There was absolutely nothing stopping them from doing that, instead of throwing the addons out with the bath water, so to speak.

Right, and I guess the sad realization is that even though those were bad xpacs, I still played them. In SL I got the very long meta done and felt accomplished. But, it’s not happening because I got old or I couldnt afford a new computer or WoW servers just shut down. It’s happening because, let’s be honest, corporate greed, money, stock prices, etc. When MS bought Acti-Blizz people thought it would somehow be good for the game, but mergers and acquisitions are usually only good for a very small subset of the people involved. And the people who suffer the most are customers.
This is a very clear embodiment of someone saying “WoW needs to be on consoles by 2027", do it however you have to”.

You do realize a lot more that .1% of players do things like M+ and raiding right?
Its from the top down, heroic also gets affect because people want to be competitive, some of the things they do to fight the addons are felt all the way to normal
Which sucks because I use default ui any way, but I use minor addons to enhance my “default” ui.
And most addons require some kind of ui access, most of my addons will probably be busted. Even simple looting, bag, mailbox managers I feel like.

We do talk about trivial things, except… you are literally in a thread about one of the biggest UI addons essentially being killed.
It is just a game, but this topic is serious. At least try to be self aware.
If you want trivial, here is a waggle thread. Go be “trivial” to your hearts content. Meanwhile the adults will discuss our concerns for a major direction the game is going in.

The devs disagree, and have said that in order to maintain an even playing field while also designing content to be more accessible for everyone, they have to design it without combat addons in mind. They’ve had to progressively make the game more difficult and less accessible for all skill levels because of addons. Mechanics that are easy to solve for most people are even easier for addons to do it for them, so it forces them to design around that, rather than having a bunch of mechanics that almost every can solve with more and more experience, if that makes sense to you.

I’m just not seeing it, especially because consoles aren’t as popular as they once were and mobile games are far more popular and make more money by far. And you just straight up could never play this game on a phone.
And here’s the exact thing I vehemently disagree with. They did not HAVE to make the game more difficult to combat addon usage. They CHOSE to do so, to the detriment of the game.
It hooks into a lot of things that blizzard does NOT want addons doing
Changing colors of nameplates, accentuating buffs and debuffs, coloring unit frames based on status (debuffs etc), and MANY many more things, its an entire suite set up to replace many different addons
