I have tried to be cautiously optimistic about what Blizzard has been saying since the add-on-apocalypse was announced, but I don’t trust Blizzard to make an adequate replacement for Elv.
As a healer, the default UI is inadequate. There are an endless amount of gaps between the default UI and what a healer needs to be successful. I’m not confident Blizzard can close that gap. Blizzard has had just as much time as add-on developers to bridge that gap, but so far, they haven’t. Erasing years of progress without offering a comparable alternative would feel like a huge step backward.
I understand Blizzard’s goal of lowering the barrier to entry, which is a good thing! But the solution should be to rise to the standard that add-ons have already established, not to pull everyone down to a less functional baseline. Accessibility shouldn’t come at the cost of quality.
