Elixir of Tongues Is Spit In The Face of OCE Players

It looks like some people are confused about the Cross Realm Zoning terminology. Oceanic realms can group with any and every other NA realm (US, LA). We only cross realm zone with our own Oceanic servers though.

Basically you can join a group and be placed on Oce realms, but you can’t end up there without ‘intentionally’ doing so - joining another group and being ported to their realm.*

*unless Blizzard messes up real bad.

Yeah I try to be understanding but this doesn’t make sense

Sarcastically, yeah, it’s a spit in the face to me too, because I wanted something else that I didn’t get…

Dude if anything, you should take it as a good sign that at least they care about something that’s adjacent to the thing you want.

Seriously, though, I was surprised that they put in a potion just like that. For the entire time I’ve played WoW, I’ve wanted there to be some kind of questline or rep-grind that would allow your character to learn how to understand other languages. Everyone always said, “no, no, they can’t do that, it’ll break the game forever, Dranaei and orcs telling yo’mama jokes on each other nonstop”, etc.

I’m not against it, I just think it’s funny how they implemented it, so suddenly and with just a common consumable.

Pandaren could already communicate cross faction using their racial language, and Demon Hunters could communicate cross faction speaking Demonic. An addon that allowed cross faction communication just meant you didn’t need 2 Pandaren or Demon Hunter translators to stand around with you.

If the servers were still in the US then maybe.

They’re in Australia. So the sensible thing to do would be to use Australian local time.

I couldnt stand to read through every post but this may explain some things.

The Elixer of Tongues would be extremely easy to pull off. Spell effects in the game already allow for players to understand different languages. Each language in game has 2 results; it either shows up as the scrambled language or as whatever the user typed. It most likely works on a set of triggers unique to each race/player character that work in an off or on mode. It would be extremely easy to create a buff that simply turns the triggers on or off. Copy it from other spell effects , introduce a timer , attach it to an item and make it apply to a character when used.

The Inky Black potion you talk about is also extremely easy. All that one does is adjusts the games graphical setting to make it darker. It adjusts contrast and color values negatively in a way that is consistant no matter where you are in the world.

What you’re asking for may be more complex than you think. Introducing a buff to change the time of day could be extremely complex. Time of day is tied to the world around you AND even effects events within the world. It isnt like the other two items as they only modify the “player”. Introducing a way for an individual player to experience the world in daylight without making it phasing related would be hard. Also , they may have changed server times there for some reason related to patching. (That’s just a hard guess). But I doubt they would have changed it “just because” and it may be an issue with a patch they released and it may be rooted deep in some code.

Anyways , the daylight issue isnt nearly as easy to solve as the other two issues.

Not what I am asking for and no point did I ask for a potion to change the time of day. I want a potion that does the exact same thing as the inky black potion except makes thing brighter.

It also changes the skybox and makes lights come on in building windows and various other visual effects to make it darker.

There is literally no reason why they cant apply the same thing to a daylight potion.

I know I’d love a day cycle potion.
Maybe even add one for weather too.

Well, seeing your title I was going to come in and say how nice it was to see an Oceanic complaint post that wasn’t about time zones…

Most people wouldn’t even notice tbh since we don’t play looking up at the sky. I play early morning which is oceanic prime time and I don’t notice a big difference between that and 8 hours later.

This sort of reasoning is why we can’t have nice things.

Wow, that is a level of self righteous, entitled, egocentric nerd rage that I’ve never encountered before. I mean, I’m almost speechless in utter amazement!

All wow has to do is make server time tick faster than real life time, like ffxiv does. I don’t know the ratio, but stand still in a zone for an hour and many hours pass server time.

But, the rage you’re using is unjustified, as you’re demanding a potion that changes the entire server for each individual person which is not likely feasible.

Not only that, but you’ve managed to one up the “this (fill in fav pet peeve) is ruining the game” crowd.

I mean wow, seriously, if you’re that enraged at something like this, your real life must be quite the stormy sea for those around you! You seriously and urgently need an upgrade to your attitude entitlement and displaced rage.

So the Inky Black Potion which literally turns day to night where ever you are in the game is not feasible?

Ok then.

Im from OCE.

People not from OCE will not understand the problem, as they will often play in the daytime and get to see the beauty of WoW during the day. They will not be subject to playing the game full time in the dark, as we are. They will not understand that even on the weekends during the day, we are playing WoW and it is dark.

I don’t think the people telling you you’re complaining over nothing realise how awful it is to play in the dark all the time. It’s a really dull dreary experience. I’m sure if they were forced to do it, they’d have had enough after a few days.

I once woke up in the middle of the night and went to stormsong valley. My mouth fell open because it was so glorious, I had never before that time seen it during the daytime.

The Encroaching Void totem can be dropped when you logout, then when you log back in the Encroaching Void effect is permanent for area’s sky-boxes until death.

Is there no addon that could replace the in game calendar to help mitigate the tz shift?
