"elevate Judgment’s role rotationally"

Todays updated 12.0.5 buffs to Holy do nothing to fix our many problems. In particular i want to highlight Judgment.

  • Greater Judgment absorb increased by 250%.

What are you doing Blizz?

You nerf Empyrean Legacy to such an extreme that it changed our rotation, now all you offer us in return is THIS??

Empyrean Legacy
Veneration
Truth Prevails

Three Judgment talents high up in our spec tree that you could have buffed but instead you chose a low tier talent on our class tree. We already struggle with Brought to Light artificially inflating our meters, now this.

Is there anyone who thinks Greater Judgment is fun? Do people press Judgment with that in mind? No. We want proactive gameplay, i want to see the ability i press have an active effect in real time, talents like Empyrean Legacy, Veneration and Truth Prevails give that.

I really hope these buffs are just temporary padding until we get actual gameplay changes in a future patch.

I am so utterly confused as to why they aren’t buffing our horrendously undertuned talents. I mean, yeah I’ll take some bread and butter ability buffs but I’d MUCH rather see stuff like Veneration, Saved by the Light, Tyr’s Deliverence etc. be made actually worth taking.

How about making Veneration do an absorb (or heal if absorbs are an issue) for 40% damage split among 5 people and then having your Flash and Holy Light crits upgrade your next Judgment to Hammer of Wrath.

Veneration and Truth Prevails desperately need buffs. 8% of a low-damage ability being SPLIT across multiple targets is a joke!

Buffing Greater Judgment doesn’t seem bad… but I’d rather see health bars move or be shielded. Either of those talents (Veneration, Truth) are far more appreciable than nullifying some damage.

I can only imagine they specifically dont want to buff Judgement via late talents out of fear of just creating another EL situation where the spec lives and dies by how good that one talent is.

But that makes it all the stranger that they only buffed the damage absorb for Greater Judgement, which they nerfed to the ground before, instead of buffing all of our other Judgement talents.

I dunno will need to see it in practice.

Can someone explain to me why this talent isn’t a capstone? It’s more interesting than the ones the spec has XD

The talent tree looks like a functional jumble of ideas; it’s funny that there are better ideas in the middle than at the bottom :stuck_out_tongue:

The Holy I play with really got me to see how silly this talent it was when we tried to “Steelman” it.

  • Valgores stare Mastery boosted Judgement
  • Get a crit
  • Target is taking 100% extra damage for whatever reason

Judgement could do under perfect conditions… like call it 60k damage (probably not but roll with it)

60k ×0.08 /5 = a whopping 960 hp absorb shield would be put on 5 allies

…I dont even think there is a Heal over time effect that wont surpass that in a single tick.

This talent could apply 8% of judgement dmg to all allies without splitting and it would maybe start to be usable.

I wish talents meant something. Instead we get all these weak options that don’t do much plus the hero/apex talents we are forced to take. Not much in the way of choices here.

It also originated as an edit of the Necrolord covenant ability from Shadowlands, so it has history. You had a lot more control over it there, though.

That’s exactly it. They buffed Greater Judgment because it’s the judgment talent that is the easiest to take no matter the build due to the pathing in the class tree. Whereas the other ‘judgment’ talents are not. Like it or not it’s the easiest way to buff judgment’s hps contribution without forcing people into the judgment talents if they hate using them.

Developers’ notes: Our goals for these changes are to increase overall throughput and elevate Judgment’s role rotationally regardless of talent build

I’m not going to sit here and argue with people about whether or not it’s enough to achieve this goal. But what im reading from this is they want paladin to be using judgment in their rotation but they don’t want a repeat of what happened with Empyrean Legacy being so key to Hpal having good hps.

Which I personally find an odd choice as buffing just Greater Judgement means that, assuming the buff is good enough that we actually pick up Judgement talent points again, everything else lives or dies by Greater Judgement.

So if it ends up nerfed to the ground again because “too much free, invisible healing” like the last time, then the button goes back to being worthless.

All the eggs are put into Greater Judgement to prop up a bunch of bad talent points, which isn’t too different than EL.

But again this is just me shrugging. We’ll have to see. If this buff is good enough to make the Judgement talent points worth it again, I can see Lightsmith having some actual use again using those Judgement talents and maybe won’t just play like HotS anymore.

Noob paladin opinion: If they really want Judgement to be important in HPal, I don’t understand why there isn’t a talent line focused on it in the spec, with Empyrean Legacy as a capstone. Maybe this is simply my DPS mindset, accustomed to a clear separation of themes between left, center, and right.

Greater judgements healing absorb is useless, it really only affects tanks and they are already self sustaining. All this change will do is inflate our numbers to make us like like we are doing good. When in reality we will be struggling.

I don’t get why they didn’t listen to the community she give us Empyrean Legacy back at strong levels. It fixed all of our issues

Yeah, I guess you’re right. It will only soften hits against a tank and pad numbers.

Personally I’d prefer buffs to talents like Veneration and Truth Prevails because I like the reliability and incidental healing. I think Empyrean Legacy is getting buffed indirectly by these 44% buffs to our spenders recently!

Edit: lmao they nerfed its damage by 50% too
