No, stop pretending any part of this is justifiable. An entire discord of Elemental’s were pumped about machine gun returning and now Blizzard is going to remove the option for high-end raiders due to people with crab claws who wouldn’t even be raiding at that level anyway? YAAAAAAA LETS GO JOE
Casting super fast chain lightnings was what made storm ele fun. This effectively destroys the storm ele build. We will no longer be competitive in M+ and will likely lose our spot as a ranged caster both in M+ and raid. We are already at the bottom of the meters in normal/heroic week and now have one of the worse tier bonuses in the game too.
put ele back to what it was at the end of WoD. baseline ascendance @2 min and elemental mastery talent giving us our own personal haste buff. class feels so bad to play and you’re actively making it worse. also weird resto lava bursts hit harder than ele’s
Nice to see ele won’t even get to see a fortified week before getting gutted harder then frost mage ever was. I was looking forward to playing ele once all the timegates went down and I actually could play it at full power, but I should have known better then to expect even a modicum of fun to be allowed in the shadowlands.
Ele is currently low to mid tier, and it was projected to stay that way until the borrowed powers came in where it would start to rise in power. Is there a reason why you are destroying what is currently a low to mid tier dps spec with one of the largest nerfs seen in the shadowlands while it is currently in a state where it arguably could use buffs? Also could you have the decency to not pull changes like this after the patch releases? There is no time to reroll if you only played ele at this point.
Also why is this suddenly a problem now? Storm ele has been this way all expac.
and last expack
remember 100% crit and spam?
It’s pretty mind-blowing that they would come up with a change like this without any compensation to the dps loss caused by it. Resetting the stacks alone would have been perfectly fine but this is killing a spec. There have been PLENTY of specs and builds that had very high APM. This isn’t even the highest APM class, and it feels like they are using the accessibility excuse as a scapegoat to justify deleting a spec from the game.
Our single target has been absolute trash all expansion. Now that we have this awesome build that no one even got to try yet on live servers or test in the ptr raid testing it just gets taken away. People were running a similar build back in 8.3 with vision of perfection. How come it wasn’t an issue back then?
So post at the end of your day so you can runaway and hide, without any communication. Blizzards new commitment to the player base. This is a bad idea/ bad execution of an idea, and you are not willing to have a discussion other than posting the changes. The New Improved Blizzard.
I was looking forward to the lightning bolt machine gun build, back to lobbing boring meatballs I guess…
“We’re worried about how this spec plays out in terms of accessibility, so we’re just going to break it without compensating you.”
Lmao
The spec wasn’t even top of the line before this change. We’re looking at a roughly 12% drop in single target damage and 7% drop in AoE from preliminary simming which puts us in a very rough spot.
I don’t personally think this should be changed at all (rework or remove storm ele later, that is what PTR was supposed to be for) if you’re going through with it and intend to keep elemental anything close to competitive in PvE content it is going to require some compensation buffs.
If compensation buffs are intended, please do let us know ASAP. Mythic launches next week and a lot of people are preparing their characters and picking mains this week. For those of us that decided to commit to Elemental because of this build or the strength of the build, this is frustrating as it is. It would also be frustrating to decide to swap classes and have compensation come in Monday when it’s too late to reallocate resources back to the class we wanted to play in the first place. Tuning is expected, but this is an excessive swing.
Either don’t do this, or compensate accordingly. Whatever you decide to do, let us know what it is soon, please.
This is too much. The justification given seems non-sensical and without any compensation given you have killed my hopes for this tier/season.
Cancelled my sub, cya later.
Excuse me?
…well guess this is a good time to test if blizz listens to player feedback.
But having 2 second GPies, .4 second polys, .4 second fears, and .7 second chaos bolts in BFA with corruption were perfectly okay.
Get some consistency blizzard. You guys are horrible at reasoning behind nerfing the not as popular classes. The feedback and feeling of your community is that you are basically full of $h!+.
There’s a foot pedal joke in here somewhere…
I understand the accessibility argument, I really do… However, there should be a balance to compensate for the loss of ST damage. There undoubtedly needs to be a buff to other ele abilities to balance this accessibility boost.
12% loss of damage for ST is a clear fact, how will this be resolved?
Nerfing the stacks and the gust of winds is dumb! This will kill the talent altogether for the rest of the exp.
Simply keep the stacks up to 20 and remove the ability for the stacks to not extend when the elemental is refreshed.
For the love of christ!
Hey Kaivax,
Appreciate the feedback, but reducing the Gust Wind stacks from 20 to 10, will ultimately “destroy” the spec in Mythic+, if the intention is to only nerf Machine Gun Build (Lighting Bolt spam in Raiding), then the only way to not touch any other area of the shaman is to make Gust Wind stacks not extend once you re-cast your Storm Elemental.
Thank you for your work and I really hope you guys can reconsider.
Please reconsider the 20 to 10 stack reduction on ele shaman. This will make the most fun playstyle for m+ non-viable. We like playing this talent in m+. Nonetheless, thanks for the feedback on this issue and others going forward!
Hello Kaivax,
We all appreciate the feedback and work you guys put into the game and of course our beloved class and spec. But just like the change for Frost Mage, this will ultimately kill the spec and our fun appeal for the “Machine Gun Build” in raiding and mythic plus. Please consider the following.
KEEP: The stacks resetting.
Revert: Maximum stacks, bring back 20 stacks maximum.
Thank you.
