I mean, we also left pictures which make it extremely easy to follow.
Kinda but not really. Basically. Class identity from a visual standpoint doesn’t exist any more - no body uses transmog to determine a class identity. So why not open the floodgates a bit more and allow for more creative freedom.
This has nothing to do with Azzinoth and in fact, I am in favor of keeping Illidans Warglaives actually locked to Demon Hunters.
This has to do with the fact that the only Night Elf tri-blade is locked to Demon Hunters, despite the Warfront having Warrior/ Rogue/Hunter NPC’s using them. This has to do with there being Forsaken and Zandalari and Kul Tiras Warglaives, yet they’re locked to Demon Elves.
Aye, I rarely ever use glaives (despite going out and collecting quite a few, also getting the warglaives of azzinoth and unlocking them for transmog).
Other things usually feel to better for me, such as these swords that match my look.
If I may be opportunistic here, perhaps many Common quality items could also be transmogrifiable? Or be upgraded to Uncommon quality, thus making them transmogrifiable? The Wandering Isle questing gear and weapons are downright gorgeous, yet it’s not possible to transmog into them. Quite a shame.
Not as nice as those, but I was similarly sad when I couldn’t transmog the tophat from the Worgen starting zone. I am glad there are some other ones at least of a similar nature that can be transmogged
This is an incredibly well thought out, carefully detailed, logically reasoned post with supporting evidence and detail. I agree with it as strongly as I am sure these facts will make little difference to Blizzard.
Much as I am pleased that they gave void elves some (but hardly a good selection) of hair colors after years of badgering as well as customizations for other allied races who need it more I am not convinced that was more than just an emergency lever or two being pulled. Only time will tell if Blizzard can actually change their dev attitudes not just when they’re on the chopping block but when things are good, when they’re not being forced to do so. Can they show us they care and have learned in 10.0? Or will it be back to the intransigence and disdain for player wants?
I think you’re misremembering. I didn’t start playing until the end of MoP, and it was late in Legion when this character got both warglaives. I did spend a lot of time in Ashran during wod, but not using warglaives.
To this day, I do not know why the developers are so resigned to allow us freedom of character representation. They almost always eventually cave, as there is nothing to be lost by allowing us more freedom. But the journey there feels like some political fight on C-span that doesn’t need to exist.
If I want to look silly, let me look silly. If I want to look different than my designated class, allow me to. The options presented are often “everyone loses” or “everyone wins” and they fight so hard to champion the “everyone loses” corner.
I agree that it seems these changes are met with such resistance that it looks deliberately sabotage-like but I do believe the Devs when they say ‘We want to look cool just like everyone else’.
Unfortunately, I think that a lot of these changes are lower-prioritized by leads and they get pushed back to smaller patches or dismissed, when in reality making small weapon changes like this would be seen as an absolute win by the entire community.
Fingers crossed - 9.1.5 is introducing a ton of new stuff inspired by feedback. I only hope this thread gets seen by the right people!
I get your point, but that type of stuff doesn’t add flavor IMO, at least not anymore. We are, for better or worse (better to me), in a state where what is most exciting for a lot of players is seeing an amazing transmog.
At first glance I don’t instantly say “Warrior”, I see the Mog first and either think “damn that looks good or another full set Andy. If your mog is able to bring out something amazing and then I look at your class that just elevates the mog, for example if I saw a mage pull off a sick plateish looking mog I would think that’s a cool Battlemage.
So I get your point, but transmog let’s us elevate our characters beyond the traditional restrictions. I for one love easing off restrictions as it makes the game have additional customization. I would say for many people you might spend many hours overtime making a great mog just so you can look about character and say “* I look beating this thing up*”
Since a lot of people seem to be missing the point in multiple threads by stating “Warglaives are ONLY used by Demon Hunters; it makes them unique!” gonna give the Night Elf race some love here.
Shout out to Huntress Kasparian in Tomb of Sargeras who has a custom Sentinel Set AND a ‘Warglaive’ despite the fact she’s a Huntress.
Also the Darkshore Warfront literally put the first wieldable Moonglaive in game and despite the fact that it has historically only been used by Sentinels, Guards, Hunters and other Kaldorei soldiers (Not Demon Hunters, that’s an important distinction), it was slapped with a ‘Warglaive’ label and given to the one Night Elf Class that doesn’t represent who actually used the blade.
Two Warfront NPC’s - left dude is wearing Mail, right Lady is wearing plate. Both wielding ‘warglaives’.
Up close of the elite Warfront plate and weapon comparison.
I am surprised that after a few days this only has 96 likes (I won’t be editing that number). This should have hundreds or thousands of likes. I haven’t met a player that would disagree. Of course, that night speak to the volume at which the forum users have dropped. Maybe it’s only 96 people around no bantering back and forth.
Omg yes I loved the pandaren starting gear. I keep some white/grey pieces in case they ever change there mind. It’s weird how it’s only green and above stuff.
