Tell us you have never played arcane in SL without telling us you have never played arcane in shadowlands.
Also not a super easy class to play.

Hunter is probably easiest to learn. And has the added benefit of collecting cool Hunter pets. And coordinating Cool Hunter Pets, Cool battle pets and cool transmogs, and Cool mounts that match.

Ret Paladin because of the excellent self-heal. Next would be Beast Master. Also Unholy or Frost Death Knight which has good self-heal. Self-heal is what a beginner needs. DH IMO is not for a beginner.
While I can agree to an extent would you want to play a new game and level all the way to max just to find out you hate the complicated rotation?
I dont even know if she’ll sub. So we’re gonna mess around til level 20
also she tried a dk and druid on my account and was struggling through each area (never finished the dk start zone)
DH is the easiest class in the game to play followed by BM hunter.

At which point she’d be more used to the game various systems and go level another class that fits her wants. Also bonus points for unlocked chromie time so she can see the other zones.
If it’s her first mmo I’d say give her a rundown on the classes theme and let her pick based on that. Leveling doesn’t throw anything hard at you and there’s plenty of time at endgame to fine tune. If she’s anything like me she’ll make a few classes to try them out before settling on one that clicks.
Or she will just quit because leveling is the most tedious unfun thing in the game.
Why not skip what’s easiest and let her pick something she identifies with?

she struggled going through exiles reach when we last played and if she’s going to actually try playing more on her own, she needs a simple class.
DH if you’er at least an average MMO player, it is not hard to learn. Easy? Nope. She’s a beginner.
my vote is for dh too. i just got my bf to start playing with me about 2 weeks ago. he started off with a warlock and then decided to use his shadowlands boost on a dh and he’s having more fun and an easier time with his dh.

Unless DH has changed significantly since BFA I’d say DH.
BM does have different rotations for single target / multi target, keeping the three charges up without the aid of an addon isn’t all that easy, you get yelled at for not knowing when to hero, burst window has a clunky ground target, and pets in instances have been lobotomized.
Well, I must be a low life player. The first time I played a DH it wasn’t all that easy. Now it is. And it takes more than three key board keys to take down several mobs at a time. That’s just me.
Hunter.
And she gets a pet.

I have the easiest time of my life, playing as a holy priest.
I can’t play anything else
Hunter, Warlock, or Fury/Arms Warrior
Paladin, the buttons even light up when you need to use them, LOL

IDK team, I see a lot of recommends for BM hunters, but most BM hunters I know absolutely hard struggle with appropriate barbed shot stack management.
Failing that mechanic is more punishing to a DPS than a warlock not clipping dots or any other class overcapping on resources.
Hunters may not be the hardest thing to do well but they are very punished for doing wrong.
