I live in Missouri. A 4.8 quake would startle me quite a bit having never experienced a real earthquake here.

Try sleeping in a water bed while a 5.2 earthquake is going on while in Japan…it shook so hard my house on the US Navy Base it almost threw me out of the water bed, I grabbed for the side railing to hand on …

That’s a scary fault zone given it about leveled San Francisco in 1906.
I’m west of the San Andreas in So. Cal. and am sitting on part the Sierra Madre fault system. Lower potential than yours but have more frequent micro quakes between 3 and 4 just to make sure we’re awake.
It’s always fun to be one of the first in the “Did you feel it?” database.
You must love reading about the New Madrid fault zone. That and the regional building codes give me the willies.
