All my strategy was around not having reaping in difficult moments like hard bosses or mob packs. Other than that reaping was non existant.
Timed today a +10 Shrine (which everyone is complaining about) and +11 Underrot without much issue at all tbh.
You have a lot of places to hide from the Void emissary which to behonest is the only that matters.
And a simple tip, you can tank the first 2 cast from it without an issue. Hell my team had some pretty good DPS in some of those that we killed them even before the 2nd cast.
Not a single person in your guild has come to close to timing a 10+. Why are you fronting like you’re rolling through m+ while everyone else needs to l2p?
Top players from the last MDI have acknowledged how garbage the current affix is.
Maybe because I don’t do m+ with my guild?
Last season a 10 dropped 400 gear. This season it’s 430. Let’s wait for a full group to be close to that before we say it’s overtuned.
Additionally the strats for overcoming it will be different.
For sure there will be a reduced amount of people timing keys at first but that number will rise.
The end of the story is that it’s hard, not impossible.
Did an AD 10 took 1hr 13mins to do cause of trash was brutal. And this to the T was exactly how mine was. Ended with 98 deaths no way we were giving up. Got a lot easier past the middle and seemed that way to vol’kaal was the only brutal part.
Give blizzard a few weeks to be able to look at their data. Once they see that there has been an 80% decline in participation of +10 keys and above from season 2, then I’m pretty sure they’ll get the notion its a terribly designed and terribly implemented seasonal affix and issue some changes. I doubt they’ll act until they have a few weeks of their data to look at though.
i wouldn’t say it’s over tuned at all, however I would say that there needs to be more regulation as far as where certain ones can spawn, how close they can spawn to one another etc.
it’s far too early to call the affix overtuned, but I can tell you a few things based on some of what’s being said in this thread.
if the 2nd void maiden cast is one shoting your group the group it’s self is probably not geared enough for 10’s right now which is fine it’s the first week of the season and we’re all relatively low on the gear progression spectrum at the moment the 2nd cast should only deal about 75% of our hp in dmg BEFORE any passive or even active dr’s come into play, if you’re consistently seeing 2 casts this points even more towards that and if you’re seeing 3(100% hp before passive/active dr) it’s 100% certain that you’re either not handling it properly or don’t have the gear to really counter it yet.
LoSing the void maiden: this simply put is a trap 95% of the time, your aim should either be to focus nuke with cd’s pots etc or death skip if outright bypassing them isn’t possible, the group I run with was able to destroy them most of the time before the 2nd cast but we’re also in the 419-423 ilvl range which undoubtedly plays a factor in that.
I will however say that there’s just certain places and packs that a void maiden should not be able to spawn in or at the very least not be able to interact with the mobs that comprise that pack a good example of this is the second void maiden you’ll encounter in ToS this week which is in the first multi mob pack in the tunnel leading to merektha’s room she’s standing there with the marksman, the very same marksman that keeps a smoke cloud around himself before being pulled, and for about 30 seconds or so after he’s been pulled.
the void maiden is untargetable by us due to the cloud, however we’re still getting pelted with her aoe, and getting debuffed/she’s still buffing herself which means before the smoke cloud fades and we can dps her she’s already reached 4 or so stacks and we’ve already been one shot, pulling the mobs back out onto the gauntlet bridge also doesn’t work because she’s so buffed at that point that her aoe is tripling our hp in dmg if the void maiden is going to spawn in packs like this then it should not interact with the abilities of the pack.
however I fully expect some tweaks to be made by next week so hold onto your shorts with the “sky is falling” feeling for the time being folks.

You say “well just pop cds and focus the void fast” while this void is sitting in/near (near aggro range) trash, the same trash that is brutal in most BFA dungeons with numerous wonderful painful abilities
For example saying to burn the void in front of volkal while 2 casters are spamming you with big nukes and long duration CC’s and the zombies are destroying your tank
In legion this strategy would work fine based on legion trash design, in most BFA packs especially with pugs this strategy will get you murdered before the void even drops low (talking about NO LOS available here) and even as gear improves
So the result is then that most/all of your group dies before the void dies, so you come back and finish it off, and this end result is the same as if you just death ran through it in some way (if possible), and we get back to the original point of how voids that cover all available paths (or the ONLY available path in some dungeons) with NO LOS are completely broken
Additionally imagine certain affixes with your strategy, are you going to tunnel the void while the trash beside it spams explosive orbs ?
Blizzard put voids in most places that groups used to skip. To avoid that pack in front of Vol’kaal you used to be able to go around the pack and jump invisible walls, but that was fixed. Blizzard wanted groups to fight through. I doubt they thought every group would shroud in then hunter or rogue skip out after killing him.
That said dealing with packs like this pose both a dps challenge and strategic challenge. If your entire plan is rush the group and pump…then maybe not. Being able to dps the void AND keeping an interrupt order especially for hex is what will separate a group that does vs a group that doesn’t. The two big guys are still an issue. Luckily Blizzard nerfed their bleed by 25% in 8.2. That said having a ranged pull them out of the pack then using “CC” might be the play, saving 1 or both until the void and both casters are dead before you kill the totem.
At the end of the day there is both a dps check and strategic component to this Season’s affix.
They put voids in places where they become a clear obstruction to preferred and convenient routes. I don’t like that but I do. Where a void is out in the open with no LoS, then the group will need to know to hold onto CDs for a particular void, possibly prioritizing that over a juicy opener on an upcoming boss.
The void that is in a dust cloud though, is unacceptable. That said my understanding is that they are on a 4 week rotation. I might be wrong.
You know you can always count of Blizzard to royally F up. They gutted the casual pvp community and now this. I think the only reason to stay subbed at this point is classic. I don’t even understand the whole idea behind having a new affix behind 10+ keys. Let alone one which is so much cancer.
legitimately the absolute worst thing i have seen on wow to date. i dont know how beguiling actually made it to live. ridiculously anti fun. the mythic+ system is awesome but they just ruined an entire season with this garbage affix
Did a 10 temple of snek.
Voids were manageable but with the other affixes, we didnt time it. One wipe, only a few deaths. Two were stupid, one was environmental. Wipe was due to being stupid on pillar boss, not voids.
I think a bit more gear and itll be doable rather easily at 10. High keys though i see having an issue with it.
Did a waycrest +10, we got it +2. Lots of void emissaries, pretty annoying, but there is so much LoS in waycrest it wasn’t really an issue. I can see it being really stupid in open dungeons and with having some melee. =/ Definitely worse than infested in terms of time wasted.

Void emissary hot fix nerfed today. The damage increase from its cast now comes in a form of a debuff vs a buff on the mob itself. Making it so people not hit by it or used a immunity to clear/immune it will not be taking the additional damage after they are hit.

so what does this hotfix do for voids in open spaces without any nearby LOS and possibly on the only available dungeon path ?

You can kite trash away, kill trash, then go back in to single target the void starting at 0 stacks instead of 5.
Meaning you can safely eat 2 casts during the burn rather than the first cast being a 1 shot like it was at 5 stacks.
This is actually a huge deal.
Alright, so are we now supposed to all get range distance addons (all of which give approximations) and play a guessing game if the ranged dps are within 40-45 yards to do damage but still outside of 60 yards when the timer goes out because we have no LOS ? Remember this thing is blaring non-stop as soon as it gets aggro and that aggro often happens from the trash aggro that occurs beside it (which happens when you kite that trash away)
Like can we get some kind of official response as to what the hell is the purpose of the void emissaries ? take alternate dungeon paths ? kill with LOS ? death zerg without LOS ?
The other two are obvious
–> anti-CC = kill fast or keep it away
–> bubble = someone keep it knocked back away from neighboring trash
Also if we are supposed to kill it in the open with massive burst DPS did any of the designers who thought of the void emissary wonder about specs/classes with garbage burst DPS and horrible ramp up time ? like perhaps demonology warlocks (the best lock spec for M+) who are already ignored because they have no baseline interrupt (without sacrificing huge pet damage) ?
I’ll assume the answer to that is no just like the answer to ‘did they consider the open geometry of some dungeons ?’ is also no, because they fired most of their community feedback and quality assurance team and this is the disaster with which we are left
