Yes.
The above were not capable of reading that I do have the epic edition already and have “early access”. To put it into simpler words, letting people pay extra to play early is gross.
Also, Badgoat, it’s “to”, not “too” .

I think it has more to do with the fact that people immediately jump on that. When someone say’s they don’t like early access, you get a lot of people that will basically say “You’re just poor,” or some variation of that.
People don’t seem to realize that some people just don’t like the idea of it, which includes people that have the epic edition.
I just want to say that early access is a really good idea and I hope blizzard continues doing it for future expansions and here is why:
Early access breaks up the amount of people funnelling into the new introductory zone on officially launch day.
It genuinely serves a purpose to make launch day better.
Also if there are bugs on early access date, blizzard can identify them and fix them for official launch.
First, I disagree as I think the game is more fun when everyone can get into the game at the same time. Even if there are bugs and lag, it will only last a little while. And if the server goes down, then hay at least we’re all in it together.
But let’s say that everything runs smooth, and blizzard really wants to do early access from this day forward. I would at least prefer the ffxiv model of those that preorder the expansion at a certain time. Instead of placing it in the epic edition. It’s still an attempt to increase revenue but at least on the surface it’s less about trying to milk money from the playerbase.
So they sell our gold and make us pay the tax on it as if we’re being paid in fiat, but it’s them that receives fiat while we get their in house balance that can’t be withdrawn.
Considering we’re making them actual money they could at least give us the value in bnet balance and they can foot the tax bill on the fiat THEY receive now if they want to send me the fiat I’ll pay the tax on it…
anyone who wants to play together can make a pact to either buy the early access or not buy the early access.
also, no it’s not “more fun” when entire servers are down for hours because too many people are trying to get in at once.
you can’t really play launch day on area 52 or illidan - hopefully this early access solves that problem
I disagree it’s very fun to watch the forums and discords.
watch the forums for what reason?
To see everyone freaking out of course. Over a few hours no less
so basically you just want to see people complain?
well, i have great news for you - you and your friends can make a pact to come to the forums and complain and enjoy watching that thread unfold while everyone else has a smooth launch day and has fun playing the game.
I’m poor but I have early access…the self righteousness is a little cringe.
I have early access as well? I think I struck a nerve saying I disagree with it, and the game is more fun when everyone can get in.
no, your reason for disagreeing with early access is this:
you dislike early access because it makes launch day smoother and thus there will be less complaint threads on the forums.
The countdown for us early access players has begun. With 2 days and 5 hours left on the clock.
the countdown begun the moment anyone knew early access was a thing
you dislike early access because it makes launch day smoother and thus there will be less complaint threads on the forums.
No, you said that it wasn’t fun for the servers to be down when there isn’t early access. I was just saying that it can be fun if you spend time of the forums during that time. And that in just a few hours people can all be on together.
I would take the sacrifice of servers being down because I think that is better than early access. I was just providing a fun passtime you could do watching the forums explode. Or you could do the healthier thing and take a walk, make food, ect. The servers being down for a big launch for a couple of hours does not make early access good.
you said that it wasn’t fun for the servers to be down when there isn’t early access.
yeah, it’s not fun for people who like to play on area 52 and illidan when they don’t actually get to play on launch day because their servers are so crowded.
Illidan and Area 52 weren’t able to play the game at all on launch day of shadowlands - they had to wait until reset next day before the servers were stable enough for them.
Illidan population according to wowprogress: 32069
Area 52 population according to wowprogress: 37919
total population of both realms combined: 69988
i think allowing almost 70,000 people the opportunity to play the game on launch day trumps your reasons.
People could choose different servers though? I still maintain that early access is not good for an mmo.
Though you didn’t even engage with the second part of the original comment.

I’m guessing you agree with this take? At least we can find common ground even if we feel different about early access in itself
People could choose different servers though?
yeah let’s just force everyone to leave the server that they have built a community on.
btw - $25 to pay for a server transfer FOR EVERY CHARACTER is way more costly than just buying epic edition for early access.
so blizzard would actually be “milking” more money from people to force server transfers rather than allowing early access.
Still don’t like early access for an mmo. Whenever someone plays on a massive server they have to expect some problems on big days. But I’m trying to get some common ground with you here. (Offering a grudging alternative if early access is the future) I may not like early access, but it’s not the end of the world. I’m hoping they don’t do it again, but more so I hope they don’t put it in the epic edition again.
Still don’t like early access for an mmo.
well you aren’t in charge of WoW, blizzard is…
and i agree with early access, i believe it is very healthy for the overall success of an expansion launch day:
Early access breaks up the amount of people funnelling into the new introductory zone on officially launch day.
It genuinely serves a purpose to make launch day better.

hopefully blizzard continues this trend and offers early access every expansion from here on.
would at least prefer the ffxiv model of those that preorder the expansion at a certain time. Instead of placing it in the epic edition
no because then everyone would just pre-order and early access would be meaningless because everyone would have it for free.
if everyone has early access, then the benefits of early access would not be present.
Whenever someone plays on a massive server they have to expect some problems on big days.
this is such a bad take, i don’t even know where to begin: you are saying that people should expect to not be able to use the product that they paid for?
that’s a big no.
additionally, people have been on area 52 and illidan before they became huge servers… again, you would be punishing people for staying on their same home server through out all of the changes to the server because it is their home and they like being there.
