They shouldn’t be making any changes, be they layering or dynamic respawns.
edit: I was wrong, I had “overspawn” and “dynamic respawns” confused. leaving my comment unchanged:
Dynamic Respawns isn’t a change. All Classic always had it forever.
It is a change to remove it. It is crippling to farmers and changes the economy drastically.
This is why I’m hoping for 30 US Classic servers. Because if the demand is far lower than anyone expects, we’ll have 30 unlayered servers.
No, it had what Mark Kern called “overspawn”. Which is the respawn timer being lowered for a mob type when all the mobs are dead (if I get his explanation right).
Exactly this.
The game comes with its inconveniences. This too shall pass. Just persevere or log out for a few hours or a day and come back. If that is too much for you, Classic is going to be quite a struggle.
Ah I’m getting confused with these terms, thanks. Yes, what happened in Classic is that if there were 10 mobs in a camp and you killed 7, the remaining 3 were “instant respawns.” So you could not have all 10 mobs dead at any time, even if you were the only player in the entire zone., even if you were a high level spamming aoes in certain exploitable areas for farming AHable twink blues.
So if they’re calling that overspawn, that’s what was in classic. I guess I need to look up what this new fancy dynamic system is that they’re adding, thanks again for correction.
When people talk about Dynamic Respawns, they’re talking about what we had in the TBC launch briefly and what Private Servers do.
i.e. Respawn timers are based on the number of people in the zone.
This has the following issues:
Overspawn may have some of the last one accidentally, but rarely the third and never the first or second.
Yikes, yeah, those Dynamics are a bad system. Hopefully Blizzard comes to their senses. Thanks again for all the infos!
Perfect post.
the dynamic respawns only made them respawn somewhat faster; it didn’t happen at nostalrius levels back then, iirc
PvP or PvE it does not matter what type of server they shut down, the fact is that they shut down servers during the test. That was not fun to have to start over.
Well, thats testing for you.
Where have you seen this posted by a blue? That doesn’t make any sense at all. There should never be more than one server’s worth of popular spread across all layers. Having an entire server worth of players on a single layer would defeat the purpose of layering.
They won’t have 30 servers open at launch. New servers will be opened as others fill up.
Having everyone log on in the same day is a change. The starting areas were not designed to support hundreds of players at once.
I can confirm that when the RP-PVP servers were introduced, they had dynamic respawns for the first couple hours or days(I forget which).
The dynamic respawn was nowhere near the level they are on some private servers, but they were there. Probably like 2-3 times faster respawns.
Not a change to the game. Nice try.
If 3 million people turn up on launch, 30 is underselling it.
Do you want to vanilla experience or the: lets stand around and try to complete this quest for an hour experience? It wasn’t a “try” It’s about the experience people had back in Vanilla and for me it wasn’t 50 players standing around waiting for mobs to respawn.
They won’t have thirty servers for any one person to select. They will have a few open for people to select, but they won’t have all of the servers available open all of the time.
