This is WOD all over again. I keep having to switch neighborhoods because they keep going inactive. This is really frustrating.
Please allow us an option to choose dynamic neighborhoods where when online, all online players will be put into same neighborhood. Many asian MMOs and also New World do this. Despite all the fun activities, being in inactive neighborhoods feels lonely.
I am aware of guild neighborhoods that exist exactly for this but come on, there are not many guilds that are as active and if you get kicked out or leave the guild, its gone. Its also a pain to rebuild everything for specific plots because the plot you owned previously is not available.

I enjoy my quiet neighborhood.

A neighborhood shard has a player cap of 40 and these zones don’t force shard shuffling to balance numbers. Once the cap has been reached no new players can enter the zone, whether in a group or solo, until someone else leaves.
Given that millions of players all have different play schedules and only what, 55 homes per neighborhood, the odds of a lively, always online neighborhood is a virtual impossibility.
My neighborhood typically finishes any endeavors within the first week, meaning the members are all very active players, but I think I’ve only seen 1, maybe 2 players in the neighborhood at any one time and even that was a rare occurrence.
I’m currently the only resident in my whole guild neighborhood although it has 700 members which means my house is on subdivision #3 since the first two are pretty full & the fact that my fave plot was already taken up anyways so for that reason, I chose to go with the new instance.
OP: You probably want to join a Charter Neighborhood. An active one should have events scheduled through whatever means they use to communicate.
Personally, I don’t care if I see others within the neighborhood when I am there. Same as real life to be honest. I don’t care about what my neighbors are doing.

I joined a charter neighbourhood. Left 3 friends from my public neighbourhood. A week later, logged in to empty charter neighbourhood. Joined some housing groups and found some other people from same charter hood also had same experience. The leader had some kind of crash out and kicked literally everyone. I was able to get my alliance plot back with my 3 friends luckily. Had to get a new public horde neighbourhood though as my plot was taken. People are fickle. I would prefer some kind of sharding system to keep public hoods active, over relying on people to be emotionally and mentally stable enough to run a charter hood.
Same thing can happen in guilds. Always a chance when dealing with humans. Nothing is perfect.
I really do not want to join a guild or charter neighborhood or whatever, and I’d love it if Bliz considered options to incentivize neighborhood player interaction and engagement. In particular, for people to want to visit other players’ homes and for players to WANT others to occasionally do so for instance.
Thoughts I had on this-
If players had the option of writing a short note, and when you click the neighborhood bulletin board, if a player has a note, an icon shows up by their name. Click to read. This could say, “My house open to visitors!” or “I’m hosting a house party on <date/time> all are welcome!” I’m not gonna go door to door hoping a neighbor left their house unlocked, that seems really weird to me.
Then…rewards for this stuff. Achievement for hosting a house party if, say, you have 5+ other players in your home at one time. Scavenger hunt type things, a reward/achievement for sitting down in a certain number of other players’ homes, for cooking food in other players’ homes, for doing /pet on their pets. Basically anything you can interact with. And I would so, so love if I could hide some small objects around my house and other players could find and interact with said object and get some sort of reward for it. Even a single gold piece, I swear, you trigger that “find & get” challenge…people will have fun playing hide & seek games.
And an idea that charmed me once I thought of it…what if we could leave gifts? I don’t mean be able to leave any existing piece of house decor but specifically designed items that you can’t use if you obtained it yourself but only if given as a gift. Fruit baskets. Plate of cookies, or a pie. Flower bouquets or single roses or a nice houseplant. Or…a casserole, AND an empty casserole dish. Your neighbor gifts you a casserole. Gift them an empty dish. Get an achievement! What a neighborly thing to do! The giving of gifts could be like…leaving it at their house, perhaps by putting the functionality into the Cornerstones. Then when they visit their house, it says “ left you a gift!” upon activation of the decorating UI.
Or if not an achievement then like house xp & community coupons or something.
I’m a pretty set-in-my-ways solo player, but stuff like this could get me interacting.

My horde neighborhood is quiet and gets it done. My guild neighborhood is quiet and gets things done.

I guess being social with others has extreme advantages over being solo 24/7
I never said i was solo 24/7. No mentioned anything about being solo 24/7
I have an idea.
Let us public/solo players OPT in and choose to live in a special neighborhood that REQUIRES RENT. If you don’t pay the rent, you get evicted and someone else can choose to move in there.
Neighborhoods that basically require players to be active in the housing. And it will show how full a place is at the top of the list.
That way it will have a revolving door of players moving in and out.
You are right, you didn’t, but what I said is still true.
