The change needs to be reverted. I was in a TW dungeon just now. The tank and healer were not good at all, I was on my shadow priest and had to stop DPSing to heal both of them. It was the third pull of the dungeon and I got kicked for “low dps.” I checked logs and outhealed the healer on that pull where they nearly died, and without my healing, would have.
Now I am stuck with a 30min deserter debuff, and possibly another 10-15min queue after that for DPS.
The change needs to go. There needs to be a better way to do this.
I would rather wait for another tank, even repeatedly, than an innocent person getting kicked for various reasons. It sucks and it’s unfair to those people, especially DPS. Sounds like you have no idea what you are talking about.
I agree. Within the last two days, I have seen two difference attempts (in two different TW dungeons) to kick players (who were running from having died and spawning at the entrance) with about 2 minutes left in the dungeon.
So once to me, twice to two others, and this forum thread… this repeating occurrence of being kicked with one boss left… does not feel like random chance, but feels like intentional malice.
More rambles:
In the dungeon yesterday, I had voted “no” to kicking the warlock for “afk” who had died twice and was running back to us by the last boss. I complained about how they were not afk, they were running back. One of the people typed “Bro’s cryin rn”. Tank was not holding enough threat, I too was getting attacked on my boomy because of my dps outthreatening the tank (I did hold back on dps while running to keep up with the tank going faster than my sprint can go). Warlock had to tone down their DPS to avoid trash attacking them (An assumption of mine based on a whsipered conversation I had with the Warlock). Tank admitted to initiating the kick for low dps, calling the warlock’s behavior as “malicious compliance”.
Well if the tank would keep better threat, then maybe me and the warlock would not have to hold back on our DPS.
The current system to give 30 min debuff for being kicked at any point in the entire dungeon, is giving power to jerks abusing this ‘tool’.
What if…
All the party has to say yes to the vote, for the kick to happen… or put the debuff back to canceling after first boss is killed.
I am feeling discouraged from going into a dungeon because of this change. I dont like my time being wasted by some selfish jerk.
I feel removing the deserter debuff from players who get kicked, would be a great solution to this problem (those who choose to leave would get the debuff).
From my experiences, I know that many blanket fixes often hurt innocents, when the blanket is trying to discourage baddies from bad things. IMO, being kicked is a terrible feeling as-is (in my opinion). The additional time-out is like rubbing more salt in my wounds. I had no control over the situation, because people do suck sometimes.
Just went to tank a dungeon where during the 1st boss a dps decided to become the tank, who was also at least a duo queue with the healer. We dropped the boss and died to other adds they brought. Then kicked myself and another dps causing us to get deserter. I get its half an hour, but that’s also when all my xp bonuses expire and I lose 30% bonus xp.
Seems pretty one-sided and abuseable. Especially when they intentionally wait till the first boss dies to do it. If a player leaves on their own then sure, but when its used to bully other players it should be removed.
That is so dumb. I was doing the TW dungeons under the LFG function this evening. Got into my fourth run when the tank over pulled the mobs. We wiped. After releasing and getting back to the group to proceed, I no sooner got to the spider flight drop off point then I was kicked from the group.
I got a whisper from the healer asking me where I went, so I told him to ask his group since they kicked me without cause. This just makes no sense that I get punished because they kicked me without a cause.
There is a fix for that, all Bliz has to do is implement a reason choice with a box to check off for the reason behind the action. The players doing the kicking need to have a valid reason for it.
