Dumbest Cinematic Yet

On the next DRAGON BALL Z

You know stories have run their course when they become circular and predictable. I have hated BFA story start to finish.

We get it. No matter what anyone says, you are going to find a way to believe that Sylvanas is not just god tier, she is so powerful that mere gods run in fear that her glances cut them to pieces because reasons. Fanbois gonna fanboi.

I could make the exact same lore power jumps at any point for any reason and if someone questions it, go “did you see that dust swirling in the distance? Yeah that’s me forshadowing their power jump” and some players are gonna lap it up like I am one of the greatest writers in history.

This fight was nothing but an ego saving device because the writer knew they had to write Sylvanas losing the overall battle and they just couldn’t bring themselves to show Saurfang being able to do anything against her at all except the big win they were told they had to write.

I bet they went to bed crying after writing this going “My sweet, at least I only let the big mean orc touch you once. Its the best I could do”.

That’s not fanboi, she is a creature of magic…unnaturally strong and fast. Has nothing to do with Fanboi.

Also you realize this is all you being a fanboi of Saurfang (which i can understand) but doesn’t help your argument that “BIG ORC WIN BECAUSE GIRL PUNY”, i mean is it really that hard to get past the fact that she is an order of magnitude more powerful than his muscle and marshal skills?

She single handedly took down a battering tower and all inside to inspire the Horde but now you have an issue because she toyed with what amounts to a peon to her?

To be honest, Sylvanas was always known to be only in it for herself since WOTLK. The idea that somehow Blizzard threw us a curve ball starting with the Varian and Sylvanas Legion opening Cinematic is the issue. “Oh look, the Dark Lady helps at the Broken Shore” which turns into “Oh Look the Dark Lady abandons Varian to die at the Broken Shore” . So the faction war is back on because the terrain of the Broken Shore is literally a plot point. And then that of course there was that side conflict between Greymane and Sylvanas. Meanwhile the player factions dissolve into class orders to defeat the legion while Sylvanas and the Alliance leaders stare at each other… Then it becomes “Oh the Dark lady wants to use Azerite to defeat the Alliance” at the end of Legion and now the faction war is back on full bore because WMDs. Then of course BFA comes and all those cinematics show the same thing as this one “Dark Lady does bad things and throws hissy fits then runs or someone says something and she throws hissy fits and does bad things” using WMDs. I don’t think any of these cinematics from Legion forward really threw any curve balls. It is all going predictably, including the Alliance and Horde joining hands again, just like they did multiple times before that.

The story is really simple and predictable.

Ultimately BFA was all about showing how Sylvanas got empowered by one of the Artifact weapons from Legion which allowed an old god to re-emerge and she is going to use that power to try and destroy all the living. And the only question now is whether she is going to be the final raid boss or not.

Even if he was, there are many things in this world that you don’t mess around with and old man strength is one of them.

Have you seen anyone upset Sylvanas beat him? Ill wait because I haven’t seen one myself.

You are arguing against something I am not saying and have never said. Nuance. Nuance. Nuance.

Everyone expected Saurfang to lose. Just like everyone expect Varian to lose. Did those big bad magical meanies just one shot him because he was only “just” a warrior? Heck no. He went out swinging and fighting hard.

That’s what Saurfang deserved.
Send her flying once like Genn did.
Maybe knock a dagger from her hands.
Rocker her back on her heels
Maybe make her use two hands to stop the blade instead of just one while she stares a the nails on her other hand.
Maybe use her amazing agility to dodge blows or turn into a banshee to avoid blows. Straight up out strength him? Mary Sue all the way.

Saurfang should never have been just a peon to her. a few levels below of course, but a peon? No way. If he was supposed to be, you wasted how much of my time this expac building up a story on a peon.

Saurfangs death should have been more than to show how powerful Sylvanas has become. You can have both the Alliance and Horde just exist to cater to your fantasies about how powerful Sylvanas is.

I’m pretty alright with the cinematic upon second viewing. My hope is that Anduin and Thrall are on the path to peace, but Tyrande and Genn have their own ideas. Let pve be represented by the former, and pvp be represented by the latter. Those who desire peace, those who desire justice.

And I hope Sylvanas has a grand plan to save Azeroth from the void, perhaps not in a pretty way, and dies ensuring its success.

Reminder that Sylvanas actually survived a 1v1 with the Lich King. I doubt a 60+ Old Orc is realistically going to do much against her. She’s always been one of the hordes top tiers.

This actually happens right before Saurfang lands a blow.

Sylvanas is a lot of things, but shes really not a mary sue.

all they did is scratch each other then boom blast. Feels like I seen this with a bad warlock cinematic.

It was more.

No it really wasn’t. yeah it moved the plot and did some story points, but that entire fight was a big middle finger by the writer at his superiors that told them they had to have Suarfang outsmart Sylvanas.

They wrote the fight in a way so that Sylvanas could save as much face as possible despite being outsmarted and losing the bigger battle. He had to be made to look bad because he was given the opportunity to show how Stupid sylvanas was.

No point explaining the story exists beyone a few cutscenes, or explains the nuances of the cinematic. A large crowd is set on “BFA is trash” and wont look deeper than “orc bigger than elf fight was bullsht”

The fact that many of the people who hate the story suddely are self professed writing experts tells me people would rather hate it all than really disect what happened, or realize lore exists outside of a few cinematics.

He fought to save the Horde and he won. The only one that looks bad is Sylvanas.

Thats a mighty assumption there pal.

Man, we so agree. So many people cant see nuance and can see anything beyond “waifu reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee”

Lets blast Saurfang then just leave for no reason. She wants to make all the living die, then avoids a war. Also why does org even have walls at this point? Everyone can just muster an army and turn up, then the gates just open when they get there. The Sylv questline here makes me want to unsub. Not to mention the mangling of Saurfang as a character. Now we are left with blubbering Baine and Thrall to lead the Horde. /facepalm

And I’m VERY interested to see Alleria’s full potential of her Void powers. We’ve seen a glimpse of it in Argus during initial questing on Mac’aree and then again during BFA cinematic. Obviously, in-between both expansions, Alleria has grown more powerful.

Veressa on the other hand, the Alliance has not seen her true powers either. She’s a ranger like Sylvanas but not at ruthless. I assume Veressa has imbued some “dragon aspect” powers granted through the dragons, namely Alexstraza and Kalecgos during the second and third war’s where she was most active. There’s not much to go off of Veressa since she’s really not a front runner in BFA. But, maybe when Alleria, Veressa and Tyrande come together (maybe) we might witness the might of the three come together. Would be interesting to see.
