Every creature on Azeroth should have to choose between the factions.
Every race. Every animal. Every bug.

The Taunka literally swear allegiance to the Horde.
Please don’t talk about elves like that. It’s very rude.
We all know the Elekk Plushie pet’s loyalties lie with the Horde war machine.
That’s actually something established in Cataclysm, through I understand if most people missed an obscure quest in the Blasted Lands. There’s Worgen ghosts wandering around the coastline from ships that didn’t make it to Surwich.
Or even better, have it disable with warmode on or in BGs.
I’d like to see the Broken/Krokul faces/tails as options for the regular draenei. The newer Krokul introduced in legion use regular draenei models just with different faces and tails. Wouldn’t be hard to implement. Farseer Nobundo introduced shamanism to the draenei and there are many krokul that live in the exodar with the draenei already. It would add some needed “grit” to the alliance.
I adore the idea of an undead paladin. It’s oxymoronic or paradoxical but that’s why it’s cool. The idea of somebody clinging to the light so hard even in undeath is pretty tough. Iirc blizz said they plan on unlocking all classes to all races so maybe we’ll see this someday.
Since seeing the Jinyu vs Hozen cinematic when MoP released I had always hoped to play as a Jinyu caster. They joined the alliance already.
KulTiran use Vrykul skeletons, give the leaner vrykul-type body option to them.
Ogres should’ve been in the horde years ago. As for the height argument, make them as tall as tauren.
I’m in a duel mindset of every race having access to every class. I think it both makes sense and doesn’t make sense. Because theres your character as an individual and your character as a part of the Horde and Alliance. The story hinges on us being on the Horde and Alliance, and certain race class combos go a bit against popular culture philosophy. I like the fact that certain races can’t be a certain class due to cultural differences, and just because we see one character of that race doing it, doesn’t mean it’s a wide spread belief.
However that also doesn’t mean it can’t exist within the faction either. For me, I miss when things had story and explanation. I actually understand when many of the Blizz devs say when it makes sense to add it, they will add it, because they want the reveal to be connected to a story. (Which I think could be done at any time for some thing but w/e). So I exist sort of in a weird state of…as long as I see a good story behind it, as well as how the rest of their culture feels, I like it. Draenei shaman for example are not seen favorably by their own people. They’re accepted, but are seen as blasphemous in the eyes of their cultural faith. I cannot imagine how much more shunned and brutally looked upon if draenei were given warlock.
Can draenei warlock exist? I think so. But unless I plainly get to see the feelings in lore, it feels like a hollow inclusion because people wanted it.
What I like to do first is first think of concepts that I think should be added next, that still give people the things they want. A lot of the concepts I see people want are either they want to be that race and the class they like, or purely want it from a cosmetic stand point for role play.
So allow me to introduce what I think could fun to add is a new addition to the Illidari line up.
I think now that Illidan is out of the picture, and the Demon Hunters likely taking a hit in Legion, they probably want to expand their horizons. But I think it should only be , first, with people who understand. The sin’dorei and kaldorei have a reason to hate demons, sure, but they’re not really known for that I feel.
If ANYONE deserves to be demon hunters it is the orc and the draenei.
Two of the biggest cosmetic wants people seem to express are red skin fel orc with fel orc customization, and red skin man’ari eredar draenei.
But let’s be real, put your wants out of the room. I don’t think for a realistic moment that the draenei will so much as allow a man’ari to be among them. Same goes for fel orc.
So why not add them to the faction that realistically would? Why not show that illidan had more to his Illidari than elves. There were demons all over the place. Fel orc all over the place. And they can have a potential to be redeemed in an enviroment that they know they won’t bother. They should know what they are, and should not expect the larger populous of the Horde and Alliance to accept them. That is what the Illidari do. They keep to themselves, no matter how much you hang around the bar. Their existance is strange and chaotic and to have more people who understand this will make the Illidari even more compelling than just more elves.
Draenei and Orc Demon Hunter gives two races who’s histories were tied together through demonic manpulation , changed by demonic manipulation, and likely did atrocities in their name they cannot realistically ever fully get past. They would have lost so much to the demons. Worlds. Cultures. They have even more reason to be Demon Hunter next. To take their fury for monsters that ruined so many lives and use it against them.
It would give players a chance to not just HAVE access to fel orc, with spikes, horns, green eyes ect but to BE in that mindset and world of having those features. And it’ll let you RP them separate as not demon hunter, without the wondering of the issues of them being among orc and draenei.
I’ve always been really excited about this concept I’ve thought up. I think it could be so perfect of a way to expand illidari and also give fel orc and man’ari draenei customization.
I think I can justify just about most combinations, but again I feel like some of them feel very individual rather than a cultural thing.
I think Broken draenei should just be an option in general.
I agree that Night Elf paladins should be a thing. But I really wish paladins had more cosmetic character choice. I feel like the Zandalari should be doing more things with golden visages of dinosaurs and beasts and the Tauren should have access to holy depictions of the Sun. Night elves should get bright moon and white effects.
(However I disagree about any version of tauren race going to the Alliance. That would be an awful insult considering what the Alliance often pose and represent as …and then having the native inspired race side with them. Not something that would go over well.)
But over all, I wish we would get ogre finally. That is something people wanted as much as mag’har on the Horde. But…weirdly enough, every race available at this point make more sense being on the Horde (in my opinion) , and would need some sort of justification of going on the Alliance.
I love the idea for orc and draenei demon hunters!
As for the draenei warlock thing, I could see it played out in a number of ways. In addition to the idea of “a man’ari hiding among Draenei as a spy/corruptor”, this could be an interesting point of conflict stemming from the Draenei’s arrival to Azeroth and combining forces with the Alliance.
It could re-spark division between the Draenei people, as what happened when Sargeras came around. But in this case, it would be a division about whether one should use the powers of the Legion to fight the remaining agents of the Legion, to ensure they never become a threat again. (And of course, the same thing could apply with the demon hunter draenei!)
Some Draenei may encounter warlocks among the Alliance that use these kinds of forbidden magics for good and be inspired by it.
In a way, it could even be interpreted as having demon prisoners pay penance for their numerous crimes, whether they want to or not, which could also be a moral conflict to explore.
It would be a really cool concept for the sake of causing some interesting conflict within the Draenei people and, if picked up by the story, could make them relevant again. Some might come to regret their affiliation with the Alliance and plead for Velen to consider withdrawal before any more of their people are turned astray, after having seen what can go wrong with influences like that in the past.
I would love to see more conflicts in the story that feel more “personal”. Just about everyone can agree that Azeroth as a whole needs to be saved (excepting factions like The Twilight’s Hammer), so there’s barely any IC debate there, but seeing more “brother turned against brother” scenarios would spark more passion.
I always love reading your posts, Gotosh! They’re very elaborative and well thought out!
I love that, from what I’ve seen and heard about the beta, there will be NPC chatter about concerns over dragonkin coming into the fold, and I would like to see more of that going forward.
Little details, like the fact that human commoners struggled to distinguish Draenei from demons, according to a short story, are things I would have loved to see come out in-game. Small changes, like having NPCs react as you pass by (like how some NPCs will greet you as you enter their shop) and have it change over time with the story would be very helpful for setting up the atmosphere.
Gimme tauren warlocks. I mean, the Grimtotem have them in-game already…
As for unplayable races I’d like to see become playable: Ogres, Naga, Sethrak…
