i think the best possible rune they could add in phase 2 for bears would be Faerie Fire hitting AOE 15yrd radius. it’s literally our best bear ability.
Fire nova totem is not used for threat and won’t be unless a rune changes something.
Haven’t played alliance yet so yeah kinda forgot pally tanks were a thing in SoD.
I hope this is just an exaggeration and you’re not saying you taunt while it’s already focused on you with this.
Phase 2 will be interesting with Warlocks getting Hellfire. Rain of Fire for the Lake of Fire effect followed up by Hellfire while getting priest bubbles and Power Word: Barrier is going to be very broken if they don’t do anything to change it.

Taunt’s have a fixate portion so this isn’t entirely useless, but otherwise yeah, don’t taunt until you actually lose aggro so you get the threat boost.
Incinerate pull, one tic of Rain of Fire on self for rune, Hellfire spam. Add in fun things like Intensity/Pyroclasm and Warlocks won’t even necessarily need Priest or Paladin support to channel (mostly) unabated. With it hitting every 1 sec, each channel will get a few ticks off before cutting short, assuming you need a full channel’s worth at all.
A rune for Swipe would be good I think.
Yes, but also every other class can scale the damage on it, making it actually useful.
Attack, tab, attack, tab, attack. Hit like 8 different things, keep aggro on all of it.
Bear swipe doesn’t scale off of anything, it just does like 20 damage and there you go that’s the damage.
Do the same thing with Bear, hit 8 different things, have aggro on literally none of it.
Edit: warriors also have battle shout which gives them a good amount of aoe threat generation.
Edit 2: there should honestly just be a Druid exclusive rune slot that has a single rune that just says “feral abilities now scale”
Starting in Cata, prot warriors can get Blood and Thunder - usually through a talent - in most expansions to make Thunder Clap apply/spread Rend.
As for Deep Wounds, I think this is usually when Deep Wounds is tied to mastery for warriors, specifically Arms warriors. A lot of their abilities cause Deep Wounds at that point. Don’t think Blood and Thunder inflicts/spreads Deep Wounds, but I may be mistaken.

Maybe one that increases targets hit to either 4 or 5 and increases threat generated by 200% (since right now I think it only does normal threat based on damage done times bearform modifiers) or a high flat aggro bonus not based off damage.
If it scaled with AP too that would be great (I think right now it is a flat amount if it does scale, that is great)
Was main tanking bfd just fine as bear. Had shaman tank join guild, decided to bring him as dps/off tank. After 2 bosses I just said you are main tank I guess, I’m going cat.

Sthe direction they seem to be taking is making paladins and shamans the AOE tanks of their respective factions. With paladin AOE threat being slow and steady (for the most part) and shaman being more burst oriented it looks to actually make for a compelling comparison of the styles.
Both bear and rogue tanks need some help with AOE threat badly to better function as dungeon tanks as mobs begin to hit harder.

I’m not certain there are any tanks that can hold threat against a shaman OT using dual-rockbiter. Just gotta taunt on cooldown.

yea even a ramped up devastate spam isn’t enough without spam taunt. i can occasionally pull aggro off tanks just auto attacking as resto sham with double rockbiter on, the threat it generates is broken, figuratively and probably literally too. and both scenarios is without tank leg rune active.
Which is pretty terrible. Tclap suffers from a lack of scaling much like Swipe and the Tclap rune competes your choice of excellent damage proc when high on Rage or massive haste when using a 2H.
A 2H tank build using Quick Strike, Frenzied Assault, and I guess Flagellation(?) can probably just speed through easy-to-moderate content. Not even sure you’d need Mortal Strike unless some later runes grossly empower the 31pt talents for classes.
no reason to 2h tank when devastate is a thing
also arms will not be a very good compared to fury in p2 in all likelyhood. for 2h, tanking or DW.
Other than more damage, sure.
