So I’m leveling a pally with my brother, but we only play them together… no solo time.
So I’m trying to think of a character just for myself to play solo. Because I play on a PvP server I’m thinking a stealth class would be a safer bet… I’ve noticed in the past I’ve been ganked a lot in the 45+ areas, more often than not by a stealth class waiting for me to be low fighting a mob or by 2-3 enemy players.
I know stealth won’t remedy being ganked while I’m fighting a mob, but it might allow me to escape or get revenge.
Depends on what you want to do with the toon… Dr00d is just fun as hell once you get kitty… Bear form is cool but once you get kitty the tool kit becomes really fun…
I have played many druids and one rogue on pservers. When classic launched, I wanted to try hunter (only played one in BC, and it was fun). Got my hunter to 60, and it’s sad how boring it is.
Rogue is fun for ganking at max level and while leveling. But Druids. Druids have a whole toolkit to make the experience much better.
Last night I was in ZF with a tank that could tank and a healer that couldn’t heal. When the healer was asleep, I would pop out of cat form and heal the tank. When the tank was letting the healer take a beat down, I would go bear and pull the mob back to the tanks spinning ravager. (Yeah don’t get me started on the whole 2h tank thing for a warrior that doesn’t even keep healer aggro).
That said, I am enjoying my Druid as much as I ever have. My only regret was rolling a hunter in the first place :P.
I’m obviously a little biased but Druid is nice. You can basically get a taste of all the roles while leveling, easy to find dungeon groups when you can fill as anything, and druids are just inherently fast levelers and probably the third best solo levelers behind hunters and locks. Rogues are better DPS but you really have to be in it for the PvP to justify playing one over a warrior since Warriors are pretty much just straight up better dps. (My rogue friend pretty much quit because he couldn’t beat warrior DPS and farming gear was rough because warriors constantly reserved items in dungeons)
Depending on what you do, feral Druid bears can be great OTs and good main tanks. Feral DPS is basically a budget rogue but if you use consumables and farm crowd pummelers, you can do as much as a rogue. It’s a lot of upkeep but you’ll be doing it. Resto druids are mana-efficient but with a regrowth build they can have the highest HPS in the game, provided they farm consumes. Balance druids are bad but you’ll be nice to have around for spell crit. Meme spec you probably will be last in line to get gear for unfortunately.
Druid is better, however, as the Druid can do everything in PvE.
If your actual goal is to gank and get away, due to Vanish, Rogue is better. Track Humanoids (Druid skill) is extremely powerful for finding targets, however.
Druid is super fun. I can do whatever I want for the most part. You can’t expect a druid to do what a rogue can because they can’t but I stealth around A LOT because it’s fun. Druids can heal or tank pretty well too. They aren’t the best at anything and are really hard to master (I’m still working on it). They are very good at escaping in world pvp etc.
I’ve played rogue too and they are also fun. They are certainly the best for doing sneaky stuff and they do great dps. So what you want is up to you.
I mean if it’s just about avoid ganks pve server is an option too as stated.
for world pvp? Hmm tough call, rogues have more damage (with out having to use manual crowd pummelers anyways) and have vanish which is a BIG deal long as you dont get marked/faerie fired (you will) but druid roots and ability to be a stealther with track humanoid on isnt something to scoff at.
