Druids have higher HP pools, and most of the resistance gear has high Stamina and high resist.

Wrong. It’s only 10%, and that’s less than the extra amount of HP a Feral Bear would have over a warrior.
They don’t need magic reduction. Their EHP is far higher just because of Dire Bear Form and the gear they’d be wearing for a resist fight.
You’re right about Shield Wall, but if you’re relying on a 30 minute cooldown for 10 seconds of 75% spell mitigation, you’re in trouble.

The answer is generally yes, actually. They provide a decent buff for their group, they have the versatility to heal/dispel with another set of gear, they can DPS, or they can tank those select few fights.
A high end guild will have a Feral tank ready and geared, because most of their BiS is trash that would be disenchanted anyway.

I wish people would stop using videos from private servers as an argument. Just about every private server does not accurately simulate how classes performed in Vanilla - too many specs have been buffed to make them viable for endgame, and we all know the numbers in the raids themselves are off.
Druids were viable tanks, but until a druid tank and some healers are geared up, they aren’t a good choice for anything. You’ll be wiping left and right because your healers will go OOM from having to spam heals on the undergeared druid. Later on, they make great off tanks, and are occasionally the better MT, but warriors are, in general, more reliable and easier to work with.

I disagree somewhat. The General Discussion forums on WoW’s offical website has had people asking for a Classic/Vanilla reboot since BC. That is literally where the “wall of no” comes from. The private server community/creators are certainly important to that, so thank you.
On topic, going into Classic you just have to accept that at this time in WoW the class that can Tank as any spec is Warrior. They are viable in any spec by just donning a Sword & 1-H Weapon and being in Defensive Stance.
All others (Druid and Paladin) have to put in a lot of work and chase some very particular gear goals to be as good as an average Warrior who is in the right stance and has the right gear equipped.
If that is your jam, I say go for it. I’m totally open to our old ideas about Vanilla being shattered so here is your chance.

Sir, the only “luls” you’ll find is how laughably off private servers were from the real thing. How much evidence do you need? Some were better than others, but absolutely none of them were accurate.

Sadly I wasn’t able to raid in classic but I remember paladin tanks doing fine in dungeons, they just needed to make sure to get consecration with their righteous fury, and druids made pretty good boss tanks, their additional health gave them more of a buffer for healing which was nice.
Just play what you enjoy the most, there is always a place for you.
Just don’t expect that place to be the #1 tank spot in a world first raiding guild lol

Druids can become uncrittable (with right itemization), have higher armor, and higher HP pools. They won’t be “one shot”. Crushable, yes – but having capped armor means that damage is also smoothed out more so than say a warrior who isn’t defense capped who unluckily gets crushed/crit.
