NGL IDK why people are upset about having to actually play the game to fly at super fast speeds.
If you need to afk you can always find a road, encampment, or stealth just like every other expansion until the partial noclip mode is enabled but it is going to be slower than the new flight system shrug
Here I am hoping they let eventually let druids ‘dragonride’ via a flight form soon

Why design fighting games you can’t shoot people with laser guns? It’s their vision of the game.

I liked how guild wars 2 presents flight. It’s something you can’t even get unless you finish the entire xpac that surrounds riding. And other mounts have specific skills to get around/over various terrain features. There’s a mount for jumping across gaps, one for jumping to high elevations, one for skimming over water and quicksand, and so on. So flight is completely optional, and quite a challenge to unlock. From the context of copying a feature, just giving us dragonflight is giving us an incomplete package.

Well when you start with a negative bias it’s not hard to figure out why you can’t see why anyone would disagree with you.
I hope that is not the case. This is because I feel like WoW has drifted too far toward player engagement across a diverse player base but in the process it makes people feel forced to do what they do not like. Or, more precisely to be doing something they do not like for a long time without being able to have much time left to pursue the activities in WoW they do like.

I feel the same way and early on in the process I said I will take a wait and see approach. I was neutral towards the DR concept being said to be part of DF. But as time went on and then trying it in beta I realized it is missing to many elements to make it work in WoW.

What oversight with garrisons? The massive mistake in WoD is they started with zero plans for flight. The forums and in game chat was far more full with talk about the flying debacle and the " compromise " of pathfinder then garrisons. Garrisons can still be useful and even more so if they didn’t forget it moving forward.
Blizz knows that people are generally change-averse. Same reason they made us do TG for legendaries in SL. It’s a smart way to get the use they want and they’re will to call the “I’ll quit” bluff because they know they’ll generally win that one.

Players asked for player housing. Garrisons ended up being anything but player housing.
it’s literally been that way since WoD. Having the ability to partially noclip through the environment at 310% move speed is extremely powerful for how the game is designed.
I don’t think Blizzard really had that sink in until later on in TBC/cata and at that point it was already out of the box. So they felt the need to gate it behind hoops so the players actually utilize the other systems. Which is probably why pathfinder exists and most of the stuff people do (outside of the more trivial) is instanced content

If that is the case why is Dragon Riding so fast then?
I am sure there will be a lot of warmode players upset to learn that whirling surge can dismount enemy players so normal flying even when enabled just makes you a very easy target.
