Dragonriding freaking rocks. (One Problem.)

Eventually that’ll exist. But we’re still locked out of content without dragon riding.

No one is asking for your fake sounding pity. And I don’t much care what you expect either.

The point is that this isn’t 100% across the board loved by all and for various reasons. And your dismissal of other perspectives is not welcome.

I’m not being Dismissive.
You bring up a genuinely good point, some players are genuinely incapable of enjoying the new Flying mechanics, and those players should be able to earn the Old flying.
This way there are accessability options, but there is equal access for the more fun option as well.

But I do think these new mechanics are here to stay.

If This means you can do this awesome Dragonriding flying with abilities like “Surge Forward” in a Flying Machine so I can be a Goblin fighter Ace. I’m happy.

i sympathize with both. i hope i enjoy and can handle dragonriding and i hope they keep ordinary flying too.

Don’t see this happening on existing mounts with the possible exception of prothoraces or something similar. I think that would be more of a reskinning of the DF mounts though.

I’m looking forward to this going away. I don’t care if I have a bunch of the DF mounts swarming around me like gnats lol.

Considering dragon riding can cross the entirety of the Isles in seconds, making the largest zones ever made feel stupidly small… I don’t hold the same opinion.

But you only deal in your own personal absolutes. Same way you’re adamantly obsessed with Tinkers. So I don’t expect any sort of perspective on this.

Goodnight.

Yikes.
Guess it’s the way I am.
I like fun things like Tinkers, and Flying fast.

Yeah the big tree to further specialize and improve it is neat. I imagine we’ll probably unlock most if not all of the dragon tree eventually. On top of that the customization and unlocking that is also pretty cool.

The one thing I like about the feature is that it makes Dragonflight feel more like a single player game then another WoW expansion. I think it’s a step in the right direction as single player games can have a lot of really fun features that enhance the gameplay.

One last thing before bed…

What I find hilarious is all the people who constantly claimed “you’re skipping content” and now we’re skipping entire land masses.

You already flew fast. This negates all of the “large expansive zones” that people claim they don’t want us skipping.

The irony.

I don’t really like it. At least not in it’s earlier stages. And with my eyesight and depth perception issues, I’m like Launchpad McQuack with it all.

Beta isn’t early access. Everything gets wiped. So don’t worry. Everyone will start off in the same place.

It’s not that hard to pick up, the fact is that there is a small training for it from the start that is a required quest chain. After that, you get the basic jest of it, then it just putting it in to practice as you fly around, the best thing you can do for yourself is spend the little bit of time it takes to go farm the riding glyphs for the dragon, 48 of them in total so that your fully upgraded dragon can fully pretty much do as it pleases outside of main quest line unlocks by zone.

I’m pretty sure that once Dragonflight becomes an old expansion they will have the new player experience start in Dragonflight instead of BFA. With this dragon riding will become the de facto type of flying and the old way of flying (swimming in the air) will be relegated to a piece of mount equipment that will cost a lot to get per character.

I know many people will love flying their dragon. However I think Blizzard has misjudged the age, skill and coordination of their aging playerbase. I’m flying around in the beta, and I would kill for a regular unrestricted flying mount.

There are so many mounts I want to use with the Dragonriding system :sob:. Anything using that rig they made in Legion (Undercity Plaguebat, Gravewings, and Charhounds) would be so perfect.

then all blizzard got to do is if you are using dragon flying for farming then you should get a speed debuff that reduces your dragon riding speed by 1000% for 30 mins after collecting a herb or ore.

Oh I get that part. It’s just being able to actually practice with it that I’m talking about. As everyone else notes the concept is pretty easy, down for speed up for altitude. But just having a couple weeks exposure is allowing early users to build a smoother use of the mechanics to just by letting your muscle memory & neurons soak it in.

It’s not a deal breaking problem by any means. Just a small gripe. It’d just be nice to have the one major feature affecting all our player experience offered so we could get a feel for it. And those of us who may struggle with it start prepping a back up plan for getting around the new expansion.

I can’t even ride the Shadowlands glow transport worms between zones without mild discomfort. So I’m not sure I’m gonna be ready to zoom around getting the flowers and resources needed to level profession skills. The YouTube videos I’ve watched don’t give me a ton of confidence that the experience isn’t going to leave me nauseous or dizzy, or both. Time will tell.

Edit: My dracthyr healing borfs will be a realistic expression of life experiences. :dragon::face_vomiting::dragon:

We’ll you’ll still have me doing the hard crash landings. Blind as hell, coming in too fast, lol. I’ll be the Harrison Ford of my server.

No debuff necessary. If I get queasy enough, it’ll 3000% self engage as I shut down the game for an hour to go regain control of mah tummy.

I don’t think that dragon riding and node farming are going to go together very well.

Once you get up to speed, you are going too fast to effectively see nodes in time to engage with them. You end up passing completely by before you can reverse direction, unless you just do a quick faceplant into the ground right there.

It’s great to get from point A to B faster, but harvesting requires a bit more tight maneuverability and speed control, which dragon riding does not do as well.

It’s like the difference between maneuvering in a WW1 biplane, and a modern jet.

Sincerely doubt it will be anywhere near that challenging – mainly because anything challenging in WoW usually doesn’t last very long before the complaints roll in and the nerfs happen.

Can’t imagine they’d make such a core feature actually “hard”.
