Just want to put that out there.
I’m not sure why the Dragonriding Crowd seems to think Regular Flying will “kill” Dragonriding, and vice versa.
There are crowds that like both types, and they are more than capable of co-existing. This isn’t a “One or the Other” Situation. (Blizzard has even said they plan to expand on dragonriding, and they’ve said they plan to introduce regular flight later in DF, so we know the plan is for it to co-exist, so creating scenarios in your head about one killing the other helps no one)
Just wanted to have this as a friendly reminder.

I agree. I wish some dragonriding people weren’t so insistent on never wanting regular flying available just because they don’t want it to be. I don’t understaaaand.

Why make this post when the point has been beaten into the ground a million times with 1k+ post threads about it?
IMO, it would do the game good to double down on dragonriding as flying 2.0 and phase out helicopter flying, as it really doesn’t add much value content wise. That should come with a hopeful rerigging of all the other flying mounts, you could do it with reduced animations to save time.

Sure, as long as there’s some restrictions on normal flying, like how long you can hover. It’s so nice not having people cluttering the sky’s in cities.
Obviously not being able to collect the dragon riding glyphs while normal flying would be another.

Thank you for proving why I made this thread.
Stop trying to get something other people like removed just because you prefer something else.

Yeah, most of the those posts come off as bait. I think most reasonable people or people actually in game understand this at least for the most part
Be cool if they did a skill tree for normal flying though and gave it some perks. Kind of mimicing how mounts work in GW2 even more. Obviously it wouldn’t work the same because mounts in GW2 literally unlock different areas etc… but you could do something like allowing you to remount once after unmounting etc… Just fun quirky things that doesn’t really affect how the flying works but offer it some perks. Obviously I think it’s fine without it though

I don’t think most people think this. I think the people that push this on the forums are the extremes in each group and loud but vocal minorities. Most of us don’t care if both are implemented as long as we get to keep the one we prefer.

You must misunderstand, I am not trying to get anything removed, however it’s my opinion that old flying should be phased out. And a better mount system like GW2 be implemented.
I’m not sure why advocating for an idea/opinion is somehow hurting anyone. You are coming off a bit hostile, being a “wow community council” person and all.
My point still stands, though. Why make another thread about something all over the forums already?

i believe the devs want to upgrade airswimming to the more dynamic dflying. from interviews.

Well, look at where the mounts were inspired from. In GW2 we have both the griffon and the skyscale. Both do separate things. Both exist and fill their niche. People just pick the one they like more.
If you wanna fly more realistically and very fast you can use the drake. If you want to go slower and have a more swim in the air feel you can use old style flying. I say let people choose. Make it so you can’t collect dragonriding glyphs on the Dragon Isles unless you are on a drake, and let people who want to use old flying use it.
Of course that means old flying STAYS old flying. None of those “Nerf dragonriding because it’s too fast”, or “bring normal flying up to dragonriding speed” posts.

Why do you want to punish people for wanting to multi-task or doing chores or being able to take care of their children or pets?

I would be okay with old flying staying old flying.

Yeh, I just put that in as a afterthought because, well, you know how these forums are.
I love dragonriding. I want to be able to do it everywhere. I still think they should add it to the old world too. I also think it is zero threat to me if someone prefers to air swim around the place while I zip around. Games are meant to be fun, so why not let people choose the flying method they wish.

Well and two its kind of dumb how druids suddenly forget to fly when they go to the dragon isles.

Eh, that I can get. If there is no flying at all it would make zero sense to allow Druids to fly when no one else can. As for the forgetting… well, Blizzard isn’t high on logic. See the flightless player Dracthyr for more examples.
I always hated how they did the no flying at the start of expansions though. I would have prefered reasons for it. Something like this place is unfriendly, and if you try and fly you will be shot down so you have to stay grounded till you prove yourself. EQ2 did a zone like that. If you tried to take off without the proper rep, things in the sky would murder you. Made more sense.
For Druid flight form specifically though, I always thought it was annoying that they just couldn’t use it as a ground travel form if they wanted to at least. Even if they couldn’t fly, they could bird along the ground.
Is phased out not a close synonym for removed?
English isn’t my first language but it seems like you say you want nothing removed but then say you want it phased out all in 1 sentence and contradicted yourself…
What exactly is the difference between removed and phased out? One is immediate removal and the other one does it slowly through phases…?
Isn’t the end result the exact same? the removal/phase out of flying and replaced with only dragon riding.

Couple things…
1.) EZ flying will come the same as it has since WOD. Which will most likely be in a year when current zones cease being relevant.
2.) It doesn’t matter what anyone on these forums think as none of us work for Blizzard and have no say in what will or wont happen with EZ flying. So whats the point of kicking this dead horse again other than the fact you just cant stand posters having a different opinion then you?

Yes, its close to removed, sure. I am just saying im not out here picketing for it to be removed or anything dramatic like that. I simply have an opinion, and stated it.

Both can coexist and will eventually. DR is just a nice option compared to being grounded for the first 8+ months of an expansion.
