This made me realize that there will be no “farmable” way to get veteran gear. I like doing that towards the end of the season to finish out the raid finder set pieces (and often fill out the gaps in the normal pieces through upgrading).
I wonder where this will drive me to turn for those- perhaps raid finder specifically, but I personally don’t like needing on items I’m not using just for mog.
This looks like a great change for the way i play. I dont care much for pushing keys and am looking fwd to heroic and M0 being good for gearing my alts meaningfully.
Can we have a balance here? M+ just swings the pendulum the other way, burning people out on the same dungeons. Content in themepark MMOs is disposable, it is not meant to last forever.
I absolutely do think we would be getting more content. I don’t get players like you one bit, you actively advocate for these repetitive systems. M+ is the most boring, uninspired MMO system I have ever seen shoehorned into an MMO. The only reason people love it, because there isn’t anything else to do in the game other than raiding.
Of course, a system that only requires 5 players, a 20-35 min play sessions and offers amazing rewards is going to see a lot of engagement. It doesn’t make it good, though. It is still very repetitive, and they barely even make new content post expansion for M+ as well. Which is hilarious when you think about how much praise it gets from people on these forums. You would think a system that is just loved by everyone would be getting more content.
Keeping in mind that in this expansion, one with m+ available, Blizzard has made great strides with actually creating repeatable world content every patch such as the Feast and Obsidian Citadel, Elemental Invasions, Fyrakk Assaults, the entire Forbidden Reach, Time Rifts, and Superblooms. If they are good or not is an entirely different conversion, just pointing out that in this Mythic Plus filled expansion, Blizzard created a lot of content that wasn’t M+.
What other content do you think we would be getting if M+ wasn’t a thing?
Hopefully this gives the crowd that doesn’t enjoy timers a much needed end game 5 man content that they desired! Seems like a great change on Blizzards part and it doesn’t exclude anyone.
The one thing I wish they would add is more rewards like an “Elite PvE” appearance for what is a current 3k score (insert whatever that # will be going forward).
TBC-WoD (10 years) isn’t a great track record of having a bunch of other amazing content that mythic+ took away from.
And at the end of the day the lions share of dev work for mythic+ is building the dungeons/encounters themselves. That happens with or without mythic+.
I’d say Blizz has been putting out way more world/different content in the mythic+ era (since Legion) than prior wouldn’t you agree?
I was confused myself because of their wording, but after some discussion in other threads I believe the timer isn’t actually being changed. Heroic and M0 will still not have the timer, while M+ will still have the timer. They’re really just upping the difficulty for Heroic and M0 and then squishing M+ levels down.
Really they could’ve just completely removed the section about the timer and just said they’re increasing the difficulty.
For those of us whose endgame IS heroic dungeons this change sucks. We didn’t ask for it, we didn’t want it, but it is being shoved on us by people who don’t run Heroic dungeons anyway.
With the difficulty of heroic dungeons increasing I’d like to see blizzard bring back dungeon achievements for heroic dungeons. I am someone who gets too stressed about mythic+ and finding M0 for achievements is a pain. It would be nice to get into LFG groups again and have the option to complete achievements like in past expansions before Mythic+ became a thing.
In a nutshell if Ion and his elitist goons would have made Heroic Dungeons drop Vet gear, and M0 drop Vet 4/8 gear there would not have been a problem.
Now we are going to have non M+ dungeon content 4x as difficult for 1/3 of the reward value… Yea, this fixes everything.
That is the problem with Elitist devs, they can’t see the real problem. Their excuse is always “player skill issues.”
Wait, so what’s really changing here? Just spacing out the difficulties more than they currently are? Nothing actually looks to be changing with any of them other than that really. M+ is still timed which is still the big issue for me. I don’t mind the affixes, I don’t mind the scaling difficulty. It’s just the timer that has to go for me to truly enjoy running them.
