Dragonflight General Shaman Tree Feedback

If you’re so worried about hps why not wait until the game is released, then see how tuning works out?

Chain Harvest is such a boring spell, it’s literally a buffed up Chain Heal. It doesn’t add anything exciting to the game except more hps, which tuning to the entire rsham kit can easily fix.

Also, anything a Chain Harvest can do, you can just add talents to make Chain Heal do. There you go, a yellow Chain Harvest. How exciting.

Honestly, all the Shaman covenant abilities are either boring or broken. Get rid of them all. They were all so boring to use that I actually dropped my rsham in SL.

Its very true. Necrolord is the more demamding spec to play but stands out in M+ more and more.

If you want easy and lazy play chain harvest.

It’s not “more demanding”. Necrolord is FOTM because they buffed Necro for Enhance and Venth fell behind.

Chain Harvest is a superior spell. Primordial Wave is only “good” now because of the buff.

If you actually played Shaman, you would know that.

Edit: Also, Night Fae and Fae Transfusion is a “more demanding” choice, BTW. Necro is pretty easy to fit into your rotation.

Yes, it fits the rotation! It works well with the spec and isnt a hey, press ome button to have 4 things happen. Chain harvest is a lazy spell.

Transfusion has zero place in the shaman kit.

just because it “does more hps” has no meaning if it’s not fun. This is a game and it’s meant to be fun. Chain Harvest is just chain lightning and chain heal put together, it’s lazy game design. They combined two abilities that already exist in the shaman tool kit and called it a day. I’d rather play something that challenges me and makes me think than use some brain dead ability click once and forget until it’s off CD

I think frost shock should be base, the middle talents should be shifted up, and the middle cap talent should be Ascendance. I mean, it’s in all 3 spec trees. Why not just put it in the class tree? Then replace its spot in the enhancement tree with Deeply rooted elements.

I’ve never played a shaman, but…personally, I feel like it’d be more interesting if the deepest parts of class trees had powerful damage or healing abilities, or maybe cooldowns. I mean, those can provide something to reach for; I was wondering if the center should be Chain Harvest while something single-target like Primordial Wave should be over on the right?

I mean, if the Primordial Wave talent is in every spec’s tree, shouldn’t it be in the class tree instead, since it’s used across-the-board?

I’ll be the outlier and say I wish we got Fae Transfusion (with the Unity effect) instead of either PW or Chain but I only play Ele.

The one thing that I would like to see is Vesper Totem make its return. There is a lot more totem play for those of us (myself included) who really enjoy totem play. I’d want to put it where Stoneskin/Tranquil Air Talent is currently and move that talent up a tier in between Nature’s Guardian and Winds of A’kir. This capstone talent is very much a risk/reward talent and should be allowed to reward good shaman for harder gameplay but obviously tuned to not be extremely OP. Being in the middle also allows for all 3 specs to head there easily as all 3 specs can make use of it. BRING BACK VESPER TOTEM!

I didnt play much of SL but Im glad out of the three Prim wave is the one coming back because it’s fun and works with riptide similar to how monks renmist+vivify combos work. It also adds some cleave healing that isn’t tied to CH spam.

Chain Harvest and Fae Transfusion were both kinda boring, didnt really work with the class thematically, and didnt work with the toolkit in any way. At least PW has some synergy and you can get some cleave healing if you have nuff riptides out.

Like others have said CH seemed like the lazy talent.

I am not against Chain Harvest, but I think that it belongs to Enhancement tree more that general. Both Ele and Resto would need to deal with clunky cast time and even if they pick Nature Swiftness, NS affects only Nature spells and even if they make CH Nature, their CDs are desynced (90s CD -5 per crit for CH and 60s CD for NS). Gonna put it into my Enhancement talent tree thread though coming later.

Overall I am pleased with what the talent tree has to offer. I am excited that our old spells and totems are turning and more excited for the spells I didn’t have access to before. Despite that our class tree isn’t perfect and I have a few concerns that stem from the way it’s constructed.

At the moment the general layout of our tree doesn’t seem to flow like other classes. Comparing to the Rogue/Priest/Druid layouts, our class tree doesn’t funnel at the top or bottom and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of synergy in the choices we make. Ultimately, we’re going to spend our talents no matter how the trees are spread but I think shuffling around some talents, and possibly removing a few, would address that concerns.

A major concern is the existence of Maelstrom Weapon and Flurry in the class tree. Both of the talents are only beneficial to Enhancement, with Maelstrom Weapon being the specs defining passive/resource. They are wasted points for an Elemental or Restoration Shaman wanting to melee.
Comparatively, a Balance Druid or Restoration Druid wanting to be a melee hybrid can choose several talents to enhance that playstyle, while having access to a form that supports it.

My suggestion(s): Remove Maelstrom Weapon from the class tree and replace it with Searing Totem. I know we’ve been down this road before but I think literally anything else would be beneficial in that spot. Flurry could also buff Searing Totems attack speed when we critically hit.

Totemic Projection, Ancestral Defense, and Ancient Ankh Talisman are not choices that feel or look very good. While those talents offer some value they ultimately feel like fillers. Totemic Projection feels out of place in a world where most of our totems have a short duration, even factoring in Totemic Focus.

Ancestral Defense is as generic as a talent could possibly be. It’s not even a Shaman specific talent, just an allotment of tertiary stats. This one is a letdown.

Ancient Ankh Talisman is worth considering but it requires a moderate investment in talent points.

My suggestion(s): Remove Ancestral Defense and put Ancient Ankh Talisman in it’s place. AAT becomes less expensive, still avoidable to those that don’t want it, and synergizes better with Elemental Warding for the players that consider it. Also remove Totemic Projection. It’s hard to justify this spells return when outside of Capacitor Totem I cannot think of another spell that Totemic Projection would benefit.

There would now be a sizable hole where Totemic Projection was that could be filled with a slight rearranging of our other talents.

Also please consider our capstone talents. I’d much rather Vesper Totem come back over Tranquil Air/Stoneskin. And perhaps Improved Call of Elements could have a 1.5 minute cooldown but no longer resets totems longer than 1.5 mins.

This is actually such a brain damaged way of thinking….

Right now rsham is one of the lower hps healers and they all play chain harvest

Castle Nathria, when 80% of rshams played primordial wave, they were the top 1 or 2 healers.

The spec will be good based on how Blizz tunes them, not based on having or not having a single cov ability that was only good because of a legendary they added in the most recent season

I’ve also seen you just spewing absolute nonsense about a 5k hps difference between necrolord and venthyr, which is easily debunked when you head to warcraftlogs and see that while most people are playing venthyr on most fights, on Halondrus necrolord has actually done more healing than the highest venth, and skolex it’s only 600 hps behind. Really makes you look like a fool when your arguments are so easily proven 100% false

Added suggestions for Ancient Ankh Talisman to make it more accessible and without necessity to take a crit talent for it and Winds of Al’Akir talent to make it more generally useful.

Also, guys, please keep to the topic. It is still a thread about Dragonflight Shaman general talent tree and suggestions for it.

All of this.

And onto the other side of CH for Enhancement is a joke. It’s such a lazy spell and designed for the mongoloids of WoW who really are the orc peons saying zug zug, me hit button button heal, nuke, and apply flame shock. There’s no real game play with that ability, just a roll face and thing happen.

World Quests…

Horrible idea. I’d rather have nothing instead of Gimmick Totem.

Vesper is just again, not good design.

After reading the mixed feedback about Chain Harvest, I decided that I could still suggest putting it in general tree in my post. While I still think of it as too clunky for Ele / Resto, if some people enjoy playing with it and not only on Enhancement spec, let them do so - it could be a right side additional end talent that people who like it can pick and people who don’t can just ignore.

Updated the starting post / talents graph.
