Titans: “We have created these dragons, and imbued them with mighty powers, so that they can watch over Azeroth in our absence.”
Titans: “Additionally, we have ensured that if ever they face a threat so powerful that they must expend all their power to defeat it, then they will also never be able to replenish their numbers again.”
IIRC, the questing through Azsuna with the blue dragonflight there essentially admits (not outright) that the flights are unable to replenish their numbers, as every whelpling drained by the Withered to death is seen as irreplacable.
Of course, this could also just be the blue dragonflight being severely under-staffed since the War of the Ancients and “all life is precious”.
TBF, we’ve also seen the Titans perfectly fine with Re-Originating entire planetary systems if they were deemed too ‘imperfect’ to be reworked naturally into the Titans’ version of a ‘perfect reality’, and then rebuild them, atom by atom, from the remains of planets, suns and all life, sapient or not, that lived on them.
The Titans are not our friends. Our goals aligned during the Legion expansion, nothing more.
So… can Dragons be paladins because the concept seems plausible and pretty awesome.
Agreed, don’t trust those manipulators of life when it suits them.
To be fair “they’re sterile now” was an &#^pull by Blizzard at the tail end of Cata because someone up high watched Return of the King and wanted to rip off the “age of man” in the stupidest way possible.
Can we as a community agree to just ignore the lore on sterile dragons? I know I’ve wanted to for years.
You know what’s funny about the dragons can’t have kids anymore thing? It seems like it’s only affected the red, green, blue, and bronze flights. Black never gave up the power so potentially they and their off shoots are fine as far as I know. Then we got the none aspect flight’s like the Thorinir that seem to still be able to have kids and they are sentient as well.
Ideally, since the power of the Flights was ‘coallescing’ around Azeroth and we’ve bound it into the Heart of Azeroth, and assuming that the Dragons who helped us empower the Heart can in-turn be given access to the Heart after we Hyperbeam N’Zoth, it would be a relatively easy ‘fix’ for the Flights to need to come to the Chamber of Heart to receive a blessing and temporarily be restored their fertility, until such time as a more permanent fix can be uncovered.
I absolutely love this. yes.
Unfortunately we cannot ![]()
Though something in Legion was interesting in that there were Azure dragon whelps. So…maybe it more so affected the core dragonflights and the branches weren’t affected?
Yes, my guild is made up entirely of drakes who just want to live peacefully with mortals. Sorry, we’re not recruiting and have no plans to, but I’ll RP with anyone as long as their respectful.
Oh! I’ll share a tip of mine that I use because Azeroth needs more (underpowered) dragons around. Each character has a corresponding dragon form as a mount, and they often just fly their consorts around. If I ever choose to RP in drake form, then I can just mount up on the appropriate one, and of course rely on other RPers suspension of disbelief for it.
Or restore it fully ideally, but it’s something that should/could work. Who knows fingers crossed if that rumored timeskip does happen after SL this could play a part. Story reason the people left on Azeroth had to find a way to restore the dragons to help combat the errant scourge.
You know I’ve thought about this and the what if’s with the Aspects who lost their powers netflixing and chilling with other non aspect based or off shoots of the aspect based dragons and if that could off set the problem. This also lead me down the rabbit hole of Dragons are like trolls/elves. They mutate forms based on the magic and the amount they get infused with lol.
As for a dragon guild if one were to make one I’d happily rp with them with Dem and his Netherwing platonic life partner Pyreaku.
Not gonna lie, getting what remains of the Red Dragonflight to do fly-overs of the Plaguelands, Durotar, Westfall and Redridge and just burn it all to the ground, and then counting on the magical powers of Red Dragonbreath to make natural life flourish in the aftermath would be an amazing ‘fix’ for the food shortages of the Alliance and Horde.
Albeit it is a literal scorched-earth strategy, but considering with Druids on both sides that aren’t powerful enough to go jaunting off on adventures running around, Shamans to ask the Elements to stop mucking about and Mages to conjure water where it is needed, why the zugg zugg do we still have food shortages again?
Because of forced plot reasons…
I have not yet seen any dragon RPer trying not to be all powerful.
All the times I have ever seen one and interacted with one have been pretty bad.
Even their profiles go into detail about how powerful they are, some even will say “do not pick a fight with them because you will not win.”
Of course, I’ve likely not met them ALL… But for the ones I have noticed, I’d say the reputation is well deserved.
Eh…maybe it’s because Dragon RPers are easier to remember, but this is just a flaw with some RPers in general.
Oh, of course it goes beyond draogn Rpers. I’m not saying it doesnt.
I’m just saying that ALL the Dragon RPers I have ever seen and dealt with have always been in this category.
Does that mean every single one in the world is? Likely not.
Does that mean that a lot of them are? Yeah.
Does that mean I will actively avoid and even /ignore anyone I see now as a dragon because of the many experiences I’ve had? Yup.
That’s fair, it’s your sub after all ![]()
I can say that I’ve genuinely never seen this in the wild, only heard of it secondhand over the years in the same breath as some truly horrendous Goldshire profiles.
I’m dead certain they exist, I just think they aren’t any worse or more numerous than rogues flaunting themselves as super elite assassins or untouchable serial killers, which would be weird to write off a whole class/concept based on the bottom of the barrel.
Consider yourself lucky then
Of course, there are plenty of other things that people RP that make me roll my eyes all the way into my skull. Rogues, Pallies, Demon Hunters, Warlocks that claim to be all powerful and the best of the best are never fun. They exist as well and are also avoided as much as I can.
The problem I have with dragons though is the fact that -every- one I have seen falls into the category. Bad luck? Likely. But that bad luck makes me not even want to bother with them any more, which I hope is understandable to some extent.
God modders are never fun. They suck the enjoyment out of any scene. Hopefully though people will realize that they’re not fun to interact with and are turning people off of interacting with anyone that is even slightly similar. That’s what happened to me. Enough horrible Dragon RP and now I don’t want to deal with anyone like that. Bad apples ruined a bunch.
