It’s nice to see some people here actually tell their problems with another game in a calm way, without just trashing it pointlessly (probably without any expierence whatsoever in that game).

I agree with you that the cartoonish look of wow has more charm and I too prefer that over Eorzea’s look. That said however, the world (of warcraft) is one of several reasons why I don’t like wow anymore. I already wrote it in another thread:
There is just so much wrong with Azeroth, even with Chromie’s timeline…
As a rpg fan that alone would be a reason for me to quit, if it wasn’t for the nice memories I have with this game… the very reason why I’ve foolishly gave them so many second chances and now returned for Dragonflight, only to quit again after a rather short period of time.
Blizzard patches new zone after new zone to their holey and dusty world, sometimes putting new shreds over old parts and the result is just… embarrassing to look at.
That is why I prefer ff14s world in the end. Everything fits together lorewise, even if doesn’t have the cartoon look.
And while the playable races in ff14 are rather boring, you get actual customizations in that game. Sliders, color palettes for skin and hair, body types, all races are allowed to get all hair styles, dyeable gear, the list goes on. Not to mention that men don’t look like clunky gorillas in that game with old cranky faces.
What do we get in wow? If we’re lucky 5 new hair colors every few months… great.

I can’t comment on the pvp part. For me one of the most important things is the story and the story in ff is just… breathtaking. It actually makes you feel things.
The only thing wow’s lore makes me feel is cringe and second-hand embarrassment. It does have it’s moments, yes, but with all it’s retcons, npcs constantly gaining or loosing strength randomly, forgotten plot lines and plot holes in general, cheesy writing… well
2 of my friends are into raiding, though. Accoring to them it’s a lot of fun, if you want to go hardcore. I went the casual route. Raiding and pvp was never my thing.
I prefer exploring the story and player housing of course.^^

That part I would say is only in your head. There is a very devoted following for ff14. Not that it should matter in my opinion.
