Hello People
I want to open this discussion with you here in this forum. As the title itself says, I think that when they opened more classes for the Dracthyr, the option of being druids and shamans could never be left out. I will explain the reasons for my opinion:
Druid: Part of the magic that was used in the creation of this race by Neltharion was life magic, from two different dragonflights, the red and the green. Two different types of magic only from life. Furthermore, one of these flights is linked to the Emerald Dream, more druidic than this is impossible.
Shaman: Black Flight, magic from the core of the earth. Rock, lava and fire. And now we also have Vyranoth with his powers of ice and storm, as a new aspect of the storm, which could imbue the dracthyr shamans with powers of water and air. But the mere fact that they have been imbued with the powers of the black flight since their creation is reason enough to be qualified to be shamans.
What do you think? Do you agree? Do you disagree? Leave your opinions in the comments.
Great hug

Dragonflight showed pretty definitively that the elements and the dragons do not get along.

The fact they are anything other than evokers is already beyond generous. Evokers are considered the best of the best and combines the power of the individual aspects into a perfected dragon form. Failure creations would’ve been deemed as worthless and left to rot like we saw in the raid…not made into rogues or warlocks or whatever.
The Dragons existed before the notion of classes did and dragons are already incredibly egotistical and would see fighting with the tools and trades of the lesser mortal races as far beneath them. Neltharion wouldn’t even be bothering to make something plebian as a rogue or warrior in the first place.
And it sure did make super sense that the existing trash lore reason was “your non evoker Dracs are in another creche…hue hue hue muh lore is sooooooo guud”.

Neither do goblins
the lore for classes is pretty non existant at this point. Just let every race be every class

I was gonna say! The Primalists aren’t corrupted, or even unreasonable. They just don’t agree with the Titans and their grand design.
Which, retrospectively, is not a bad take.
Sure we do. Gobs mess with the elements, and when the elements weren’t happy about it they worked out deals with them. Turns out everyone likes good business, including elementals. It all works out in the end.
Provided you pay.

I mean the ending of dragonflight introduced a new aspect to represent the primalists.

Realistically Dracthyr are getting them eventually.
The hurdles here are on the fact that Paladin, Druid and Shaman all require custom assets for each race that gets them and this is… time consuming; for Druid you would need about 72 new druid forms to account for all of the races that don’t have access to the class (18 races with 4 forms each) and that assumes that races that are both horde and alliance share forms. Even if we recycle extent models this is still going to be an absolute ton of work.

That’s pretty much the only reason they didn’t get druid, shaman, paladin, or monk.
They’d have to make custom forms for druid, custom totems for shaman, a custom mount for paladin, and monk has a lot of special animations that they’d have to make work with the wings.
Not to mention some token lore for all of these combos, except for monk because every other race uses the “a wandering panda taught them” reasoning.
Part of me wonders if the real reason they didn’t get monks was because they plan on giving monk animations a facelift, and didn’t want to bother giving dracthyr those animations if they’re just going to change them. They’re now the oldest combat animations in the game, and it’s overdue.

Dracthyr should have launched with all the extended classes they got with the anniversary patch, plus Druids and Shamans.
Every time I go back to the Dragon Isles on this character it makes me sad I didn’t get to play her as a Dracthyr during that expansion.
I’m hopeful we’ll get them as Druids and Shaman one day, but I’m not optimistic that it will be anytime soon.

Except all the elemental dragons.
And Ragnaros in Cataclysm.
And the Primal incarnate who defected to the Dragon side.
And Ebonhorn.

Yep. And no dragon that’s part of the Green flight is a Druid. Being linked to the Dream does not automatically make you a Druid.
They don’t have Wild Gods teaching them to shapeshift. They’re experiments with the innate magic as a literal part of them already— they don’t require shapeshifting to use the magic of the Green flight.
They also weren’t going to make Druids or Shamans or Paladins any time soon for new races, as it’s a lot of new assets. They have told us this a couple of times now.

I think no new druid races unless Panda gets it.

I think Blizzard just didn’t want to dedicate time to implementing Druid forms and Shaman totems for them right now.
While I’m not sure what dragon-themed Druid forms would look like, the Shaman totems are so simple to do. Just take the Oathstones we encountered in Dragonflight and shrink them down to totem size. Done. You now have Dracthyr Shamans.

They shouldn’t uave opened them to the classes they did. Keep dem’ dragons as dragons.

they will get them when they make the assets. same as all the other races. making a new thread on it every single week isnt going to change that.

Dracthyr not getting shamans when Dragons are literally akin to the literal elements is simply blizzard not wanting to make them totem assets.
they literally just got aspect of the storms… but dont have shamans?

A race having not having a certain class at this point isn’t about lore reasoning. Blizzard has said years ago at this point they intend to bring all classes to each race (I am assuming unless it would be quite literally impossible in the lore such as earthen or dracthyr DK)
They gave each race the basic classes that require nothing unique already. The only ones not added are ones that require extra work which I assume they want to release all at once.
They don’t want to make druid models for one race and release it but not for the other races. So they wait until they are done with all races.

Yeah not happening , Blizz has stepped back on the all races can be any class thing according to an interview Ion did last summer.

I think this particular race has gotten more than its fair share of love in such a short period of time. They can sit down and be quiet until older, less attended to races or taken care of.
