I have been questing and farming Rares with my Night Elf Druid in Emerald Dream this month, and Amirdrassil is lovely, but, especially as someone who started my WoW journey with a Night Elf in 2004, Darnassus will always be my Night Elves’ home.
There is no way ever that Amirdrassil can replace Darnassus, and I hope that one day Blizz will rebuild the beloved Tree and give back to the Night Elves what that stain of WoW’s writing, decisions, and History did in BfA. Amirdrassil is just a reminder of that, certainly not a replacement.
Also, could other races please get a Toy hearth like the Worgen did with Tess’s Peacebloom; 'Brings you home to Gilneas City. Home cities are so important to players and their Character’s stories, and each Race should have a Home Hearth like that.
Cheers.

Personally I like Bel’ameth more than anything before it, I just wish they’d do more with it. Make it a starting area for night elves to give them that same opportunity to connect to it, and make Amirdrassil an actual city.
Honestly, the cities I grew up exploring were nice for the time, but spending as much time in SW as I do makes me wish a lot of older areas were redone to have the quality of Boralus. So I guess I’m not too torn up about it, more just underwhelmed with the end result.

Not sure they can recreate the magic to be frank.
Vanilla Teldrassil was something. It and Darkshore was what got me to buy the game - convert from trial.
In Cata they messed with the lighting and ruined it.

I concur. The whole Kalimdor update in Cata sucked. Darkshore, Ashenvale with Astranar being under attack and the loss of Thousand Needles. Hated those changes.

Especially in retrospect, knowing we may never see these areas restored in any capacity. We’ve only lost more in the lore since then, since we never get to take a break to try to rebuild anything or make the world livable after the annual apocalypse hits.

I was hoping Thousand Needles would FINALLY turn into a racing speedway.

Yes! Please rebuild Darnassus, we’re only a month away from the Wickerman Festival!

If they were smart they would have used DF to retcon out BFA/SL, but here we are.
If I really trusted the WoW devs I’d be behind a Teldrassil revamp but 100% they would just make things worse. Blizz’s destruction of NE’s has been pretty much their one consistent theme since Cata, and yeah I get the guy behind most of that and Teldrassil is gone now but I still would rather they just forget NE’s even exist. They have proven they are unable to do anything good for them. Just leave them alone.

I maintain that if DF’s intro was our character waking up on a ship after getting outrageously drunk and dreamt up all of SL, I would be much happier.
They’re more tacitly avoiding it and cherrypicking what they’d like to keep, soft retconning bits and pieces when it comes up.

That’s better than what we got.
Saw someone post the idea that Sargeras plunging his sword into Azeroth released N’Zoth and all of BFA/SL was just a fever dream of his that we had to wake up from I thought was a good idea.
Either would be better than just letting the rot fester in the narrative forever.

The next 3 expansion story arc after this triple one would be for the Space Goats zones and they would more or less rebuild the NELF tree/City. Back in 2017 they said the only way to add flying to the Dranei/BELF zones is to delete everything and rebuild them and either do a Raid patch with no raid and just have the flying in those zones or do them in a expansion release.

Belameth is nothing more than a small, neutral questing village. Comparing it to a massive city like Darnassus and its surroundings would be nothing more than a troll move.
The Night Elves haven’t gotten their city back, nor Ashenvale or Darkshore. Everything is still in a completely ruined state. It would be nice if something were done about it, but the devs also left Stormwind, one of the game’s two main cities, half-destroyed for ages. I hardly believe they’ll ever take care of the Night Elves.

I don’t know, I think it has potential. They ought to have expanded it into the tree houses, though, the ones with closed doors and no interiors up in the boughs of Amirdrassil.

If the NEs were to move back into their lands, I would rather not try and regrow and rebuild our city in a tree again. Instead build a fortified city near the coast and several outposts in the other parts. Then large forts to guard the two land routes in.

I also love Darnassus, night elves are my fav race…and i agree with you… I hope it can be rebuild again … but i was thinking it should be more cool to give the players different starting areas depending the race for example night elves can start in darnassus (classic one) , the new rebuild Darnassus,Nightaven, mount hyjal, feralas (before corrupted or just a settlement that they still be there fighting corruption) and i know there’s many more of night elves starting areas that we could get for players to do as a starting zone… it also applies to other races for example Humans have different settlements and towns around all azeroth that could choose where to be their starting zone, same with Orcs, Tauren etc … it will give the players more immersive lore wise feeling when playing, also for players who love the lore and some rp to the mix.

Not really. For that to happen, ya’ kinda would need another Emerald Nightmare and power hungry and corrupt Archdruid to take over. Which… I assume you’d be mad if Malfurion were to be turned evil, since with him going “I wanna be a satyr or flame kitty now” you’d have Tyrande follow suite.
At which point we’d see a conflict between old night elves choosing to burn the emerald dream, to be a flame kitty, or we’d see most likely some tentacle kitties if Malfurion were to turn to the Old Gods and want to regrow Teldrassil as a gigantic tentacle instead.
I’m being facetious but… that’s actually the history in a very silly and abridged version. To regrow a corrupt world tree is kinda a dumb idea from an in-universe perspective.
Just talk with the Bronze-dragon in the area and enjoy a city built and designed 20 years ago.

I’m not sure what the point of rebuilding Darnausus would be?
Like… It was in kind of an awkward spot on the map, it calls into question what the point of Amirdrassil was, The exodar offers the same function as a capital (and in just as awkward a place on the map)…
Frankly I’m more excited about the possibility of Gilneas becoming a major hub at some point in the future and/or the goblins getting a proper capital in Azshara (which I know is weird given how it’s basically touching orgrimarr but it would be like… the most goblin thing of all).
Beyond that… Undercity is still dead as a capital even after you do the quest to cleanse it; you basically get a couple portals on the surface and that’s it.

As fond as I am over my memories attached to Darnassus/Teldrassil from 2004, I am at a point where I can actually get a chuckle over this.

Except it was no longer corrupted. Matter of fact in the Stormrage novel they cover that Alexstrasza was surprised to find that the NEs had removed the corruption and that she found no sign further corruption. She along with Ysera later blessed the world tree to help protect it from future corruptions but without all the dragon flights to bless it, they couldn’t restore the NEs immortality.
