They are going to get more classes. Ion said in the interview that their lore is not there yet. They just woke up from a 20,000(?) year slumber and have only known what they were made as. Next expansion will most likely allow them to be other classes.

And yet more confirmation on this!
- The Story of the Dragon Isles is focused on the Dracthyr Evoker. After Dragonflight and watching the Dracthyr integrate with Azeroth, it would make sense for them to be able to learn how to learn Frost magic or how to Bladestorm. Post Dragonflight, very likely for them to have other classes.

They’d also likely get Druids, more so then Shamans I would say, due to the Green Dragons/Emerald Dream Magic inside of them. Plus The Elements VS Titans and Titanic things are a big focus of the Dragonflight Story. So I could see them not getting Shamans at first (when they get new classes), but perhaps down the line.

evoker is a dumb class that doesn’t make any sense, at all. i mean… i get why they designed it the way it is… they already had a mail wearing caster/melee/healer hybrid in shaman. so they threw together this limited range “caster” class that couldn’t stand up to any real army. which makes no sense, at all.
why would the aspect of the black dragonflight build such an obvious flaw into his footsoldiers?
what it should have been was something more like a sword mage in revolution online (a really bad game that somehow nailed class design).

That would’ve been AWESOME. I’ve been craving a Spellsword/Red Mage like class for EVER.
As for the Dracthyr having those obvious flaws…10.07 and 10.1’s Story explains THAT particular bit. I won’t share it here due to spoilers.
I don’t think he would’ve designed them with an obvious flaw, blizzard just released the class half-finished. They’re missing the black dragonflight-associated tank or melee dps spec they rightfully deserve and is supported by tons of previous lore.
