Dracthyrs = Evokers
Why would an Evoker aka Dracthyr abandon their innate power to be a Warrior.
Why would they only use arcane magic (Mage) when they innately have the power of many forces.
Giving them more classes just makes them look illogical.

Because they weren’t impressed by their inborn power? Because they saw a Warrior do something cool and wanted to try it for themselves? Because they want to step away from tradition?
Why the hell would a Gnome be any martial class? You have constructs for that.
Name checks out…
I’m really liking the customization previews they posted. I’m pretty happy with the amount of variety we will be getting there and the more bulky body options seem to be good enough for a lot of the people who were wanting that option, while still keeping the slim options around for those of us who want them. so i’m pretty happy with all that.
but still, that does not change the glaring issue of class restriction going on here. Seriously, even if they only added warrior an an option I would accept it. (though personally i think introducing at least one extra class for each remaining armor type would be best. cloth, leather, plate.)
Even if we had to wait a patch or two i would be fine with that- so long as Blizz was communicating that they see the demand and wont shove this under the rug for the next 2+ years. But so far it has been pretty non committal or completely silent. =/ And with the xpack supposed to be out in like 5 months… i doubt they will listen.
Because an entire race of people being carbon copies of one another with no variance is logical…
Obviously, it isn’t. In fact, it is illogical and having a diverse race makes a lot more sense.
We are getting a Dragon race and they will be limited to healers and casters. When I think Dragon race that isn’t what I think. I think tough, strong, savage, and brutal. They should at the very least have their own Warrior like spec. They are DRAGONS!
Give the Evokers a melee/tank spec please.
Have you never heard of Dragon Knights? Only one of the more popular classes in DnD and other fantasy games. It would have been way better than an evoker.
I’m sure they’ll get more next expansion.
I’m honestly not too torn up about it for the time being.
Next expansion? So what? Wait a few more years to play what you want? I’m tired of this logic. They need to not be lazy. They need to have the race completed from the get-go so people can play the race and class combos they wanna play and not be forced to wait and then reroll in the next expansion if it does happen.
I have a wealth of other race/class combos to play and as cool as it would be to be a dragon warrior dude, that’s currently not in the cards.
I can spend time losing hair over it, or I can put it on the “we’ll deal with that later” pile.
WoW has so many other fundamental problems I want to see done and fixed before I can even start asking for unicorns.
Well maybe you think that way, but I want my dragon warrior. Or, more to the point I want to just be the humanoid form and player a thalassian elf that doesn’t turn stupid purple on alliance. That would be my only way to play an actual high elf. But of course they had to limit them to only one class for no real reason. This would have increased my enjoyment of the game by a lot more than whatever fixes to “problems” you think there are. Most of those “problems” have been fixed in the ending of shadowlands, and also in the beginning of dragonflight with the removal of borrowed power.
It really does feel like they’re desperate to re-sell what they’ve already done and it’s out of a grudging need to having something new on the back of the box that they’re deigning to hand out this paltry excuse of a new race.
I like the visuals of the dragon form, but no mogs, one class, a half-baked racial in the vein of Two Forms, and a lack of options is absolutely a deal-breaker here. Blizzard is trying to see just how little they can get away with making and still call it a new expension.
Just wish they could tank and turn into like a real dragon form like how druids shape shift into bears… only one can dream
Yeah. I mean it’s obvious they are rushing this out the gate. The race is clearly not ready yet, but they had to cut corners in order to get the game out in 2022.
This is just a rehash of the “I wanna be a worgen but the human form” all over again.
I thought Void Elves had non-voidy option by now.
They already said they are gonna allow drackthyr to fight in their humanoid forms. So it’s not the same at all, cause this will actually happen. Besides, this opens up new races to factions that do not have them. Untainted thalassians for alliance, and humans for the horde. Where as Worgen just gave you another human which you already had on the faction, with no new customization options to match it being a gilnean. The visage forms have all new hair styles that blood elves do not have.
And no, void elves got skin and hair color. We still have garbage hair and a racial that turns us purple. Plus an evil sounding voice and purple blood when attacked. That is no high elf. But the drackthyr visage form is a high elf.
Hello friend!
I agree with you and they should have access to
Warrior (Plate)
Evoker (Mail)
Rogue (Leather)
Mage (Cloth)
These classes cover everything in my opinion, on top of making them unique to be able to have access to the new race.
Is there Visage forms without the weird scales or horns?
Because if the void elf off-branding was enough to throw you you’d think that’d be uh, less conforming than the former.
Yeah. They said visage forms will be highly customizable. Tacking on or removing what you want.
If I could be a warrior or a paladin Drackthyr I would immediately roll one in DF. But I freaking can’t. I’m gonna have to wait until the next expansion to have any real fun. It’s great.
I just can’t grok “The Dragon race can’t let me be an elf” as anything but an extremely luxurious complaint.
Like if that was the only flavour of issue WoW had these days, we’d be sitting so pretty.
Which I guess comes off as being dismissive of the viewpoint, which I get must be grating for wanting to be the High Elf fighty man of your dreams. (I want Yaungol-the best I can settle for is Lyre-horned Tauren)
But in the grander scheme, the new race/class being a one combo thing isn’t a big deal to me so long as they make it work and play well.
