What you couldn’t just necro the dps meters thread? That this is clearly a response to?
this is an extremely dangerous viewpoint to have and i really hope someday you will realize why, but i doubt you ever will.
and you are playing a video game, stop pretending like you need to be some top level athlete to complete most of the content
weird. you have this opinion but somehow you think its other peoples right to tell others how to play the game. contradicting yourself but ok buddy
FFXIV banned DPS Meters but the game still has logs and people judging you.
You can’t stop it, it’s just part of the ‘meta game’.
This is why getting into a group of people that share your values on this stuff is so important, so you don’t have to deal with the general public.
Once again you are conflating “reasonable” with “what someone has the right to do with their own group”
If you want to continue this conversation then try to understand that first
I don’t think these examples are a good analogy… If you are comparing power lifting or marathon training to WoW then you need specify what they represent.
Power leveling 1-25 is a marathon and if you want to reach max level faster than anyone else you had better figure out what the best performers are doing or be left behind.
If Powerlifting is DPS in a raid setting then you had better understand what rotations, consumables and equipment that’s best for this task. That’s not Min/Max that is just the bar for competition.
If you are a Role Player and a social quest farmer you probably are not interested in running BFD. So don’t expect others who are just looking to meet the requirements of a challenge as elitists. Look at them as competent and confident in what they’re doing.
very very different situation there though cause u can be banned for using it against people in game.
you can certainly try, and to great effect. see above.
sure. agreed. but that has nothing to do with not being a total dingus to random people because they arent doing what you think they should be doing.
Ego defense is a helluva drug
dangerous viewpoint in a game ok let me not take anything you say seriously now.
im not saying you have to be that top lvl athlete to do the raids but im not the one making the raid so i dont make that decision. and i dont have the right to make it for them.
in response to your other point , no i am not being hipocritical . i am saying the only person who has the right to tell others what they want is the person making the raid.
if you dont like that, DONT JOIN THAT RAID. why are you so entitled that you somehow get to trump other peoples want to play with likeminded people?
Yeah, that’s why they do it outside of the game in Discord.
It may not happen in in-game chat channels, but it DOES happen still.
Trust me, as someone who used to do Ultimates it’s brutal.
analogies are not meant to perfectly represent things 1:1
some do. some dont. because you level the fastest, i.e. are the no.1 ranked leveler in the world, it will never give you the right to talk down to anyone who doesn’t level that way.
you are missing the point entirely. not everyone is a powerlifter. powerlifters do not go around talking down to everyone else about how better they are because they powerlift.
what? literally no one cares if they want to be “elitists” towards themselves. but when you try to impose your own set of values on others, that is the problem.
they are the ones forming the group. they get to decide what they want in group members.
do not get that twisted.
if they are preaching to you without you inquiring then you have a point but other than that they have every right to play with the players they want to play with and invite whoever they want to invite .
no one said it doesn’t happen.
you are talking about a 0.01% of the population.
even then, that is among other people who are all striving to be improve their own performance.
doubt those top 0.01% of raiders are constantly talking down to people who run MSQ or play/raid casually
and it is very much NOT ingrained in the culture of that game like how it is here
I’m still not sure why you feel you are being talked down to? Who is calling you out in such a manner? Why?
Last I checked anyone can do whatever they want in WoW and there are no barriers except for private group play. So WSG premade and BFD raids.
Those are the only things currently that have some restrictions based in the private setting of those who form the groups. They might be extreme or ridiculous but that is also well within their rights.
If you get an invite to one of these private events and you get flamed by them just quit that party and move on… It happens even with players of equal skill and experience wearing similar equipment.
the only thing that would be unreasonable is for me on my horde shaman to require only paladin players to join my group.
cause the game would have to change alot for that to even happen and it would be silly.
No lie detected. I use a dps meter and warcraft logs to gauge how I am doing personally and to see what I can do to change things up.
the problem with people that hear facts sometimes think they are being talked down to or being verbally assaulted or some garbage when someone is being kind enough to tell them what they consider the truth of things.
im still not sure why you feel like you wanna keep pretending wow isn’t 20 years old
and im still not sure why you feel like you wanna keep pretending the evidence of players behaving in the ways i’ve already described aren’t a single internet search away.
that literally has nothing to do with anything but you are still incorrect. you are bound by rules set in place by the game and the updated “ToS”
dunno why you think its within someones rights to try to impose your own set of values on others
why are you pretending like these insane behaviors only happen in the privacy of peoples homes?
no. they are out in the open and in public spaces. trade channel. general chat. forums. youtube.
Thats not the same issue. A raid leader kicking you because you didnt kill a trash mob the right way is unresonable. A company not hiring you becuase you dont have 5 years of experience isnt. Thats a false equivalent
again thats what YOU define as unreasonable. i dont think it is.
which one of us is right?
at least be honest with the arrogance.
who knows ? maybe killing the add wrong put stress on the healer and someone died with their world buffs.
could be very reasonable in MY opinion.
you’re replying to the wrong dude, I’m agreeing with you
