I understand them, only because it is time-gated. I personally prefer doing a questline that I can knock out in a few hours or even 6-12 hours if I wish to, rather than have to wait for daily resets to progress. Some days I have more time than others, so I like to take advantage of the days that I happen to have more time. With this in mind, players, especially older players, have limited time and do not want to spend 30 minutes to an hour everyday grinding content they do not enjoy. Not everybody cares about lore. Some players just want to go run their Mythic +, or go PVP, or go raid.
The biggest thing for me, which Iâm sure is the case for others is that alts have to repeat these reputation grinds. Repeating reputation grinds only makes me want to play the game less. I want to explore new classes, but in order to completely unlock their potential, I have to go and do dailies again for a handful of weeks. This feels horrible, and is so unnecessary with how many other things you have to work towards on a character.
Just because itâs current does not mean it needs to be repeated. Dungeons and raids are repeatable and are an example of exciting to repeat content. When you have content that doesnât excite you in any way to repeat, it is considered boring. On top of that, my opinion may not matter to you, and thatâs fine, but it may very well matter to Blizzard, who guess what? Makes their living from us, the players, thus making playerâs opinion very relevant.
Doesnât mean itâs a good design. Lots of systems that exist in the world have existed for long periods of time or still exist and it doesnât mean they were good systems.
Yeah, explored it all on my main, as has every other player. Thatâs why people still mount hunt, toy hunt, transmog hunt in raids and dungeons from 10+ years ago. Can you please just not bother responding to me? Actually hurts my head to read anything you type.
Name me one end game zone where we havenât had to continue to work at getting things on every character and everything was just handed to you while it was branded new current.
Then this isnât the type of game for you.
Ah, so youâre the type to immediately devolve.to insults when someone gives you a different viewpoint. Alright then.
Youâre missing the point. People complain about repeatable content because itâs not fun. A video game is supposed to be fun. You want to repeat content? make it an option for others to skip on their alts. I much rather spend my time doing dungeons and raids on an alt character than mindlessly doing a questline, hating every second of it because Iâve already done it on 3 characters. Itâs dull, and itâs a waste of time.
Thatâs an issue with the content itself, not the design of repeating it. So no, Iâm not missing the point.
If you donât want to play the game, then either donât play alts or find a game thatâs more interesting with its storyline. Because this one is failing with interesting storyline. But the base gameplay design shouldnât be changed because someone wants to be lazy.
What needs to change is Blizzard actually making engaging content.
Iâm enjoying myself at the moment levelling a new toon on a completely new server (so no gold to start with) and decided to play through MoP which I havenât played in years. And what I am finding is how clever so many of the quests are. Just little things, yâknow, that are funny or cute; like when you first go into Valley of the Four Winds, one of the earlier quests is to go to a little farm and help this farmer who is being overrun with marmots. So you have to fill in the marmot holes, but every time you try a marmot gets annoyed and squeaks at you and stops you - so you have to punt it away, when it squeaks again. And another quest shortly after where you have to go find 3 pigs that another farms has lost, collect em and bring em back.
These all relate to the fact that the Valley is a farming community experiencing problems where you help them out, and along the way your gain reputation with them with gives you small benefits. So, its not earthsaking content or major stuff but it has a sort of flavour to it that creates that sense of immersion that people talk about. Iâve actually been enjoying playing the expansion and remembering the story again.
Iâm gonna try my best delco accent via text. Iâm from Philly, itâs pretty obvious, but Delco accent takes Philly accent on steroids which to me is hilarious.
Lissen yous better be gud otterwise aftur the SEE-Y-OH game today yous ainât gettinâ any pizza from DâAntonias. Instead Im takinâ you to mom-momâs to eat cabbage an ham.
Also Johnny remembur coach says play like a good sport, but when yer on that court I donât want no bichinâ about fouls, you get back up spit out some wooder and go get that player back. Ainât no cowards in dis house.
My problem isnât that there is new content that will take time to do
Itâs that it adds another layer of stuff to do before Iâd be able to do whatâs considered endgame. Everything is stuck being grinding this, grinding that, fill those slots, get that ilvl, raise that rep. Like canât I just log in and do stuff? And donât tell me âyou can still log in and play unoptimizedâ like any group will pick you over someone thatâs got max conduits, bis leggos x2, ilvl, io, etc etc⌠I miss when trying to raise your ilvl was the only grind, and filling slots with gems and enchants.
I love how you try to twist things by saying that players are lazy because we do not want to repeat a story line, or a rep grind so we can do thing WE consider FUN in a video game that is supposed to be FUN. A story line loses its magic after the first time you go through it. Forcing players to jump the hoop again and again to be able to enjoy a new spec or class is insane.
As compared to who Anasasia the Lauara Ingrahm of Blizzard? Or Clark, the Hannity of Blizzard? Maybe Brewa the Greg Gutfield of Blizzard? What about Pyrie, the Outnumbered host of Blizzard?
The ratio of people asking for changes versus the same head-in-sand white knights who never ever ever deal in good faith about anything?
Literally Ion could slap their mothers and would probably turn to their mothers and be likeâMom, you deserved that, you just didnât see how you couldâve avoided the red circleâŚduh.
People being able to skip content on alts does not affect you in any way. The only reason it would upset you is because your friend Jimmy who can play the game for more time than you in a week, is able to get more done on 2 characters than you can within a week.
Not everybody enjoys lore. Some of us enjoy doing dungeons, pvp and raiding. Our time is also valuable. If you have the free time or the want to repeat a story line, then you go ahead and repeat it, but you donât have to shove it down my throat every time I want to try out a new class because Iâve completed everything I needed to on my main and Iâm bored.
