It was instant cast in beta, but that was deemed too fun.

Can soul shape be used to dodge mechanics?
I don’t think it has to do with the cov set.
If door had no Cast time it effectively would be a blink - for every venthr.
That alone could make venthr the one covenant to rule them all.
(Blink is very powerful - in some situations door would be even better ).
Door Dash is a poor ability in general use, however it has very useful moments that let it beat out others.
PvP it is a God send for low mobility classes. Tanks who don’t have a charge or leap can find huge use in it as well.

DoS is most useful with the disorient in the Nadija tree. It is very useful in m+ dungeons. It completely fails as a mobility spell, though.

They mean the covenant set rewarded the player for NOT using Door, therefore irony, because nobody uses it anyway.

If it had no cast time it would STILL be massively inferior to Soulshape which is 3 blinks + movement speed boost.
There really is no reason for it to not be instant-cast, at least.

Okay so ‘the balls’ when combined with someone such as ‘you all’ tends to mean bravery.
Example ‘You got balls to run directly at a bull’
You could rephrase to say ‘You are brave to-’
Now the ‘soul shape blink a 1 shot’ is a subtle nod to the fact that you said you can use soul shape to avoid the spike balls.

Best actual in game sensible topic I’ve seen in awhile. Plus I learned some ways to use it that I never thought of - a relief to read. 
Door of shadows at instant speed would be a better blink.
Soul shape is not a blink as it doesn’t remove snares or roots. (To my knowledge?)
There’s a spot in Korthia where the ground transitions from dirt to metal and you can’t use it

Its been extremely helpful to me in raid as a paladin and the max range is way more distance then I can cover in the time it takes me to cast it.
I find it meh. Half the time it doesn’t work, which doesn’t make sense since a lock gate can be placed in the exact same spot and work. And you’re right, the cast time is too long. I often don’t use it because I can get there faster by walking. : /
I literally forget that I even have the ability, because I just never find it useful enough to actually use. There are probably some great uses for it if my lazy self would research it.

Soulshape definitely has all the same problems as blink because it’s just Displacer Beast given to everyone.
